Since the fix in the last iOS update - the 'fix' for the locking iPads - I've noticed that mine seems to restart once it's been on charge and gets fully charged. Every morning my iPad asks me for my password rather than touchID. Is this usual behaviour? I thought this only happened after a restart - or is there a time out now on the touchID?

funny you mention this. i leave mine on charge almost full time, and have enjoyed the 'fix' and touch id awakening, but this morning for the first time i needed a password, indicating a cold boot.

I wonder if the 'fix' was to get the iPad to reboot itself once it's hit a certain charge point?

well, mines woken perfectly over the last couple of weeks, this morning was the first time i needed a pass number. and as i say, my charger is plugged in about 99.9% of the time, so im nearly always or actually always on 100%.

the lowest i go is probably 60% on rare occasions.

I only need to input the passcode if the tab has been sitting unused for a couple of days, which usually happens over the weekend as its unused mostly. I see an alert that states something to the effect of "you haven't us the device in X hours so you must enter a passcode"

Not ever seen it restart on its own. I've a 128 lte launch day model.

Mine started freezing while charging again, a couple of days ago. Happend on the last iOS 9.2.1 beta and is still happening on 9.3b1...

Mine needed a password today, but I noticed that after typing the password I was on the second home page instead of the first, indicating there was no reboot. When it reboots it always shows the first home page. So I think if you don't use the tablet for a certain amount of time (I didn't use mine yesterday), then it asks for the password.

Oddly mine hasn't done it for a couple of days. I wonder if that last little iOS update cured it.

I don't have a Pro, but my 1st gen Air seemed to have rebooted itself overnight aswell... I went to bed knowing that it was in landscape mode and Wi-Fi connected. I woke up and opened the smart cover to see any new notifications that would've arrived overnight, but when I opened the cover it was in portrait mode and Wi-Fi disconnected just like if it would've rebooted... Although it never told me that it rebooted and wanted my passcode.. My iPhone 6 was fine and I always leave them both charging overnight.

I had a look inside the log (Can be found at Privacy > Diagnostics and usage > Diagnostics and usage data) but I can't find anything related to a crash except for an .panic log from last year, but I don't recall it crashing at that time? It must've crashed/rebooted barely an hour after I went to bed since I got some mails within that time.

I wonder if it's landscape mode that's triggering it.

Mine requires a password if it hasn't been used for a period of time. I don't understand the logic behind it. Is this supposed to be added security? My fingerprint hasn't changed.

I've noticed my iPhone 6+ rebooted last night. It's the second time it happens. No reboots on my iPad Pro though. I put both to charge overnight.

Could be, I always leave it in landscape mode and it has never occured before..

Almost every sunday morning when I wake up and check my phone it tells me it hasen't been used for 48 hours and requires the passcode, even though I've used it 8 hours before...

Hi,

Mine does the same thing. I started noticing that when my iPad pro sits for a few days I get the password prompt before I can use my fingerprint.

I believe it's a security measure if it hasen't been unlocked within 48 hours. I think 9.2.1 fixed the bug where mine would do this every Sunday morning though!:)
