I'm heading downtown early next week before I leave PDX and plan to stop by the MS Store to check out a S4 for myself. For what it is, a Windows laptop with some interesting/helpful design features, MS has done a nice job - I read somewhere this weekend that it usually takes MS 3 tries to get something "right", and I don't want to take the word of several of my whiny employees who really just want new toys for the holidays! I've already told them I'm waiting for the X2 to come out first, and I'm leaning toward that mainly because of the much faster interface - I'm still wondering why MS didn't use that newer interface, but not too much. Heck, I might even bring in my MS rep to see what kind of deals she can make us, and leave an X2 promo sheet on my desk when I invite her in. :evil grin:Indeed the Wacom pens are better than the first gen surface pens. I am able to be slightly more accurate and better pen pressure control with my Wacom tablet. As I understand, the pens and Surface Pro 4 is much improved in this area. Some reviews state they are practically equivalent to the iPad pro and pencil with Wacom still the best. I will have a surface pro 4 soon and will be able to evaluate for my uses.
You have to admit, if not for the Surface Pro line there probably wouldn't be a spectre x2. The whole reason Microsoft got in the hardware game was to push OEMs to do a better job. Looks like it is working.
Then it's a short walk to the Apple Store to see if I can try out a Pencil to see if it's all that - I have a Wacom Creative Stylus 2 and Pencil and they're getting me where I want to go, but I'm also waiting for iOS 9.2 to drop first. An Apple Pencil is not at all a must-have for me! Happy Holidays!
