Hi everyone,

I just recently bought an iPad Pro and was surprised to find out that it sounds softer than my current iPad 4 at lower volume (below 9 bars). If I were to max out the volume for both my iPad Pro and iPad 4 then the iPad Pro will sound louder. Is this behaviour normal?

Softer or less harsh? With 4 speakers the sound on the Pro is much fuller and nuanced. Also, the volume curves are likely different with the new DAC and speakers.

Same here on my 12.9" iPP. The volume is rather low until the middle of the slider and goes up very quickly on the last 3 or 4 bars.

Yes, this is normal. Happens to mine as well, and as has been reported, the sound at top level is better than the other iPads. Lower level does not sound as well.

Thanks for your reply. I almost wanted to bring it back to Apple for a check. I heard rave reviews of its new speaker system on the iPad Pro and was disappointed to hear how "soft" it is at the lower volume.

Personally I feel that it is softer. Could hear clearly from my iPad 4 even at 6 bars but not from iPad Pro.

Thanks! So it seems that this is the correct behaviour?
