What 😱 already planning to bring out the iPad 12 already dang I just bought the iPad 11 to replace my iPad 9 😵‍💫

It's been almost three quarters of a century since auto makers figured out that they needed to have unending development programs and design models years in advance of sales.

Aircraft makers followed suit.

There is no revelation in saying Apple is working on an iPhone 19, or 20, or 21...

There is no end in sight for Apple making smartphones, tablets, or notebook computers.

It will never be a surprise that Apple makes a new model of these things.

I wonder what will happen if the base iPad receives an A17 and 8GB of RAM next year? The iPad Air will increasingly be awkwardly positioned.

the ipad "classic" isn't on a yearly cycle though, the one just released replaced a 3 year old model. I wouldn't be expecting a new classic till at least 2027. Then again the air wasn't on a yearly cycle either; so who knows.

All the conversations up to the moment Apple makes a formal annoucement are about vaporware, not hardware. There are lots of prototype devices that never see a production line.

So you’re saying, we’re merely discussing rumors here … on MacRumors? 😲😉

Not surprised to hear that Apple is working on future models of iPad. MacBooks, like the iPhone are following a fixed release pattern now. Expecting to see the MacBook Air with M5 in early 2026.

It's time all iPads (maybe starting with the Air) have this mobile/GPS chip built in. Oh yes, and FaceID too.

It would be great if they put a modem in macbooks, not ipads or watches, like HP did about 10 years ago in their business line.

Wasting the M5 on iPad Pro is complete nonsense, I don't know what they are thinking. That's their highest-margin product, so it must get it first, or what the hell?!

My interest in the iPad has started to wane over the past year. iPadOS doesn’t seem to be getting any better. I was hoping it would fully replace my MacBook but it still doesn’t.

This is true, however Apple might be more willing for 18 months to debut Apple Intelligence in the base iPad. However, that would still be late 2026.
