I didn't advise anyone to do what I do. I just reported doing it without any negative consequences. My iPad travels with me in my carryon, but when at home, it stays put. I don't take it with me anywhere locally. I have not yet been visited by people in white coats, and don't ever expect that to happen. Do you suppose that Apple made it possible to reject some security options (or all of them) because they knew some users didn't need them?
the amount of damage someone could do to your digital 'life' if it were to be lost or stolen is truly scary.

i guess if you have no email access setup on the ipad you are reasonably more secure. but if they can access your email account via an installed app, thats all they need to get access to almost everything via password resets.

Well, do a search on bypassing the passcode. It’s apparently pretty easy.

I’ve noticed the past few times I’ve updated the iPadOS that it no longer bugs me to “ finish” the setup.

As I mentioned, I keep my iPad at home most of the time, and when I travel, it’s always within arm’s reach. I’m pretty confident that it won’t be lost or stolen.

Oh it does? How so?
Check the source of the links it brought up. That's valid no matter how you found it. Disregard any that you don't think are reputable, and follow the ones you trust. That's how it works, isn't it?
