Hi , how can I tell what brand screen I have?
Currently they are Samsung...until LG and Sharp starts shipping screens.
Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2_1 like Mac OS X; en_US) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Mobile/8C148 Safari/6533.18.5)
Apple designs the "idevices" and Samsung builds them.
That is probably not a fair statement - Apple now designs their own CPUs (although Samsung currently fabs the A5 in the US) the iDevices are assembled by Foxconn and not even all the screens come from one supplier. Due to the current litigations active between the two companies, Apple is actively looking for other suppliers for all components - although the CPU fabrication in particular may be expensive for both to switch. In the end it's a fairly standard ARM SOC, so they could bite the bullet and apply the same design to TSMC or GF, I would expect.
