iPad Shared Desktop Video Streaming

Is there a way to reliably stream video from your desktop to your iPad? I'm not talking about through files like .avi or anything like that, but I watch a lot of live streams, and am wondering if I can emulate that on the iPad.

With the Air display app, I'm able to mirror my display from my MBA to the iPad.

The tech hasn't developed that far that you can stream video that reliably in the way you mention. In another year or two yes, right now, no.
