The iPad has come home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm sorry but where do you live dude? My husband is a born and raised Manhattanite and I have lived in Manhattan for 10+ years, including surviving 9/11 since I worked in the South Tower. I'm not blaming New York. I love New York, I always have and I always will. This is my home and has been my husband's home for over thirty years. It's NOT my iPad and I am not the one who left in the luggage cart, but that's not the point. Maybe one of us should have noticed it but people make mistakes, that doesn't make them idiots. Have you ever flown from Bangkok to NYC? It is a long haul (24+ hours) and by the time you get back, you're not exactly in your best frame of mind. I won't even get into the numerous investigations at JFK about people who work there stealing **** from passengers - google it dude. Also, the word that I believe you're looking for is "looted".
I am, however, thankful that you posted such snap judgments on here since it reminded me to post an update.
The iPad has come home!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A very nice gentleman from PA found it a few days after it was lost. It was apparently still sitting in the top shelf of the luggage cart and no one had spotted it. The man who found it didn't want to turn it in (smart dude) and put it in the trunk of his car but had to go out of the country soon thereafter. He wound up finding us no thanks to our airline, JFK, PAPD or the apple store (which he all consulted to try to find us since he had our names) but just by charging the iPad and calling the number that popped up on the screen and mailed it back to us. So it's home and back in action! Thanks very much to everyone who provided advice and tips on getting it back, it is much appreciated.
You messed up. I don't get robbed because I don't let my stuff get robbed. you must be reasonable and say to yourself those magic words that prevent further things from walking out of your possession , " It's our fault. " there are dishonest lowlifes everywhere. Not just NY.
Congrats on recovering the iPad. Btw the whole " I'm a NYC girl" thing is fine but although I understand the frustration one might have from getting a nice item like an iPad clipped it sounded a bit like the blame/ frustration was being aimed at people not responsible not only for robbing you but for not doing cartwheels to get it back instantly. Being a city dweller you should be able to take an off the cuff , abrasive response like I threw out there. If I misunderstood a bit than I apologize. After 50+ years of city life I see much more good than bad in people. I'm a bit sensitive of anti public servant complaints since all the funerals. People in NYC are great. Like 95% good to 25% bad. NYC is full of outsiders commuting every day . If you want to know NYC people for what they are the outer boroughs show you. 11222
Congrats on your iPad back. Dude.
Wow aren't you arrogant and fooling yourself.
It's not some one's fault even if they were naive. Yes, they could have prevented it but that doesn't take any onus off the thief to not be a thief.
2. I don't care how careful you are, stuff happens. You haven't been robbed because you are careful, mindful, and at least a little bit lucky. Sorry, but you're fooling yourself if you think you can 100% prevent burglary even if you are constantly at vigil. And, well you are human, most likely you'll have a bad day or even just a bad moment. And that's when luck comes in on whether it is the wrong time to have a bad day/moment.
I might be arrogant but I'm not fooling myself about anything. You can guard your stuff or you can miss a beat and get robbed. We all have bad days but you don't live in NYC and travel without knowing luggage handlers can go through your stuff. A bunch of them just got edited for it recently but it's been a common knowledge fact for a long time. I got a little annoyed that a victim of a theft seemed to point a certain level of blame where it did not belong. I am done commenting. It's good to hear someone got there thing back. What I lost I can't get back so excuse me for being offensive / defensive. That's no better than what I blamed the original poster of doing. Sort of.

Now that I sort of apologized to the original poster, I find myself wondering what kind of frigin wacky username you got there ? Ya must be some piece a work.
Go to church before its to late.
Actually, I'm atheist/agnostic and I'm only amused by that number cause whackjobs like you take it seriously(it's just a number, yeesh). And it just amuses me that people are freaked out by that number. Plus when some one has already taken the tigress handle I'll remember to try that handle. And no thanks on the church. It bores me, and I see no reason to go listen to some one lecture about stuff I don't believe in. And if you say that well, what if God exists and you go to hell cause you didn't believe in him? I will ask back, why would you want to believe in a god so arrogant he'd send some one to hell who otherwise was a good person, treated others well, solely cause they didn't believe in him (especially when he gave no evidence to show that he existed)?
And you missed my point. Yes, it is reality that if you leave something in checked in luggage it very well might be stolen. But that doesn't make it the victim's fault. It still fully is the fault of the person who stole the item. The victim might have been smarter and avoided the loss, but that in no way makes it his fault. And even so, sometimes people make mistakes. There is no reason to blame the victim for a mistake anyone can make. The blame fully goes on the thief.
