I just got my iPad today and the only thing I can say about it is that it is absolutely amazing! It really is the best way to surf the web, and the apps are out of this world, love reading books and the keyboard is really good, I can nearly as fats on this as I can on my laptop (I've typed all of this on my new 64GB 3G iPad) so I was wondering what are you're thoughts on this amazing device, do you think of it the dame way as me or do you not really like it that much? :D

    LOL!

You need to double-check your spelling there. :p

The iPad's keyboard is good but the spellchecker often makes assumptions about what you meant to type and corrects it incorrectly ("fast" = "fats", "same" = "dame"). You need just a little practice. It'll grow on you.

The iPad is great, just as you say and seems better the more you use it.
It's got a million and one uses and is the perfect travel companion.

You're going to love the battery life... these things run forever.

    Have Fun,
    Keri

I am really enjoying mine a lot, but unfortunately my wife seems to prefer it over her iPod Touch as well. :)

I received mine two days ago and I'm in love with it. It's even better than I expected. Especially since I bought the Airport Exetreme because the FIOS router kept losing me. I'm getting better signal strength with the AE than I ever did with the FIOS router. As the commercial says, more bars in more places:). The apps are fantastic. I've downloaded around 22 apps. Some paid for and a number of free apps. Typing is a breeze although it takes a little getting used to. Life is good:D.

Love my 3G iPad too. Also love my new iPhone 4. Arrgh....what to play with, what to play with? Why did they have to release these two so close together...lol

Can't wait for iOS 4 on the iPad though.

Yes it is stunning, and I can't understand why people keep saying the screen is so poor.

This screen is fantastic, I can not comment on how much better the iPhone 4 screen is as I do not have one.

So do those who keep bitching that the iPad's screen is poor after the iPhone 4.. Do you also no longer look at your computer monitor, your laptop, you HDTV, your games console (handheld) or anything else with a screen attached? After all they all should be 'so poor' or do you all reserve the bitching for the iPad because you have nothing better to do and no friends to call on your fancy new bloody iPhone ;)

And OP - yep love my iPad too.

Any screen with a pixel density less than 300 looks poor in comparison to the iPhone 4, there's no hate towards the iPad here, fanboy
Computer monitors and HDTVs aren't so bad due to the fact your generally further away.

What, did you just open your usual bag of insults and toss that one out ? Well bravo.

Yeah right I'm a fanboy for not seeing the logical argument as to why people are attacking the iPad 'specifically' because of it's ppi in comparison to the iPhone, and yet seemingly ignoring every other device with a screen which has similar ppi

    Bless.

    "usual bag of insults"?
    "attacking the iPad specifically"

I'm not one to throw any insults around, and I made a comment about the ipads screen in the (get this....) iPad forum!
I'm not attacking the iPad, I'm just saying the screen looks terrible after using the iPhone 4!
You've come in, posted a load of crap which I've taken as "fanboy" nonsense as it seems you haven't quite engaged your brain today.

Anyone who comes out with this:
"do you all reserve the bitching for the iPad because you have nothing better to do and no friends to call on your fancy new bloody iPhone"
Must be either 14 or a total fanboy!
So, take your crap somewhere else or keep it to yourself.
    Thanks

The iPad screen could scarcely be described as poor given that most people's first comment when they see one is, "Wow! The screen is gorgeous!"

It is an XGA resolution, IPS TFT LCD which is pretty much the best type of LCD you can buy. It is bright, clear and has huge viewing angles.

It is also 9.7" compared to the 3.5" iPhone 4......

I don't have an iPhone 4 but I have seen one and I use an iPhone 3G every day for the last two years. I hardly use my iPhone for reading or browsing or email any more because the extra size of the iPad screen makes it so much more useable in practice, AND so much easier on my eyes because I don't need to hold it so close. It doesn't matter that the IPhone 4 is higher ppi, you still need to hold it closer to your eyes to use it compared to an iPad, and this is what strains your eyes.

Yes the iPhone 4 screen is really nice and is great for occasional use while on the move, the iPad is the better device to use for more prolonged use if you value your eyes. Try reading a book on an iPhone for 15 minutes then look out of the window suddenly. It will make your head swim for 10 seconds as your eyes try desperately to focus again. Try the same thing with an iPad.

The iPad screen is far from poor!

    Craig.

    Hi Craig,

yes the screen is bright with good viewing angles, movies look excellent, certain apps are nicer to use, and obviously the larger screen size makes the iPad more usable over long periods.
But, text (especially in portrait mode) looks awful in a direct comparison between the two devices.
Now I don't state this as fact, it is purely my opinion. I use an iPhone 4 everyday, I'm used to it. It would be interesting to get your opinion again once you own an iPhone 4 (if you intend to of course)
I'm sure some people have poor eyesight so wouldn't be able to notice (but will still argue no difference) but my vision is perfect.

Yes it's a good screen but not perfect. what this is referring to I would guess is that the ll and w characters are often blurred when displayed as small text. Perhaps a better font choice could have helped with that but the reason is just not enough individual DPI in the screen. I'm hoping for an improvement in the next version
