iPad Sync Issues

My iPad refuses to sync with my iMac all of the sudden. When I plug it in, iPhoto pops right up and recognizes it but iTunes never opens to finish the sync. Same whether iTunes is open when I plug it in or not. Tried rebooting, software update, etc... Last week I had a photo on the iPad that would not sync to iTunes. Could that be it?

That's itunes bloatware for ya. I can't stand iTunes and wish there was an easy way to just drag and drop data into iPad like I can on all my windows and android devices. Getting sick of itunes big time.

And it doesn't work if you try the sync button in iTunes?
