Will an ipad tethered to an iphone 4 via personal hotspot be able to make facetime calls?

As far as I know, you can only use FaceTime via Wi-Fi. The answer to your question is most probably: No.

It should yes.....as the personal hotspot can be used via WiFi. Make sure to make a wifi connection and your iPad will have no idea it is on a 3G connection.

it should work according to apple peeps

i went to apple store and they said it should work on iphone4 hotspot because it is a wi-fi. it will not work tethered to a iphone 3g/s because it is not considered a wi-fi.

Using my iPhone 4 as hotspot, FaceTime works great on my iPad 2. I don't leave it on just when I want to make a FaceTime call or the wife sends me a text to let me know she is going to FaceTime.

You cannot tether to a 3g/s to an ipad at all!

the iPad definitely differentiates a tethered connection from wifi. tethered is 2 rings and wifi is standard wifi icon. I tried while tethered and it didn't work, maybe i was in bad area, I will have to try again since several people are saying it works.

iPad2 to iPhone4
