I thought of this also, it would be good, but I think Apple want us to pay $30 a month for unlimited data on top of what we have for our iPhones.

Find an app for your smartphone like the iphone or blackberry that can turn your wifi and transmit your data. Then you can have your iPad share the connection. 😀

Exactly. Here are some instructions on how to do it using an iPhone.

It uses a jailbroken iPhone running MyWi (3G to WiFi forwarding) software, to which your iPad connects. Enjoy!

Actually it's ATT not Apple that has blocked you from tethering to your iPhone.

Nope it's apple, tethering is available on my 3GS the iPad won't even pair with the iPhone.
