iPad iPad too expensive now: will you still buy?

So after all of Apples price hikes, it seems the iPad is now in a rare place, since it's not an essential device for most people. Laptop or computer? Yeah, that's essential, so people will keep buying it. Phone? That's essential too.

But a tablet? For most people it's a redundant device, so what will happen now? Will sales decline significantly? It's really expensive now to buy, say, an iPad Ai, and even the basic iPad starts at an excessive price now.

Not everyone needs a laptop or desktop. I don’t. My iPad is my primary device, with my iPhone a close second. So yes, whenever I feel the need for a new iPad I’ll go get one.

Agreed. I get more use out of my iPad than I would any laptop or desktop.

I am glad I bought before the price hike, so I can wait a few years for prices to become more reasonable

Like others, my iPad(s) is my primary device for practically everything. My desktop is asleep most most of the time, and my iPhone sits on a shelf until going out on errands or to the fitness center.

I have the standard 11th generation, which is excellent. I do wonder what the future holds for pricing of the upcoming 12th.

When my M1 iPad Pro dies or can not be updated I will buy a new one its the wife's favorite device.

An iPad is a luxury for many of us. Most times, I prefer my 13" M5 to my iMac or MBN. If Apple releases a new iPad Pro Nano next year that wows me, I will get another. Otherwise, I have been very happy with what I have, especially with it in a ZUGU case. I find it much more versatile than carrying around my 13" Mac. I suppose it all comes down to what works for you in any given situation.

As long as I am using the iPad to teach in the classroom, I will continue to go with the best iPad in the market at that moment. It's likely overkill, but it's also easily the most-used device amount all my apple devices, though I will probably skip the magic keyboard the next time round.

Yes, I will still buy it. My 1Tb 13" M5 Pro has replaced my laptop and I really enjoy using it - it is in no way redundant. So. I'll never buy another laptop but, if necessary, I will replace my iPad with another. It's my favorite device to use.
