    Don't think this news is too new. They made a lot of mention of May 10th being the day for more information. Might not have said it would be the preorder day though. :cool:

    Yeah this isn't really new news, but ah well :)

    I think it seems a bit unfair on Apple's part to give us the prices and the ability to pre-order at the same time. Maybe they are playing on the fear that if you don't order ASAP they might run out so people will order anyway.

    Another thing is when the pre-orders will start. Will it be like in the US where it was technically the same time but adjusted to the different time-zones or will it be the same time everywhere e.g. 7.00AM.

    Ok so as we're now (almost) within the week where we can pre-order our iPad's I thought I'd try and re-ignite the speculation regarding the iPad pricing. For the UK at least. Should help us all make a better decision on which model we want vs which model we can afford, lol.

    Looking at the Wifi only model here's the current conversion from US Dollars to GB Pounds.

    16Gb = $499 = £326.39

    32Gb = $599 = £391.60

    64Gb = $699 = £457.21

    I think it's fair to say that if we get a $1 = £1 conversion these products will not be successful. There's no way many people way £499 for the base model, right??

    Knowing Apple as we do, it would also be fair to assume that these will be rounded up. The "Apple Tax" as they say, so I believe we will see these prices for each model.

    16Gb = £349.99
    32Gb = £449.99
    64Gb = £549.99

    What do you all think? What about the 3G version??

    I couldn't be bothered to check - but I think that you may need to add VAT at 17.5% to your prices. The prices you quoted are less than I paid in Orlando for mine when you include local sales tax.

    Ah good call Chris, I'd overlooked that. Woops.
    Can't wait to find out for real though.

    Did you bring your's back to the UK? How are you getting on with it? I'm tempted to get one from eBay (cause I'm impatient), but I am curious as to how restricted I'll be without a US iTunes Account?

    PS
    Apologies if this is too far off topic.

    I can guarantee you the WiFi 16GB model will cost at least £449. Apple don't care about the exchange rate.

    Ohh and I'll receive my iPad 16GB WiFi on the 4th May :D

    I got my 16GB wi-fi last week, via ebay, for £400 all in.
    The App Store app doesn't work, yet, but there's no restriction on buying iPad apps via iTunes on my PC, and syncing them to my iPad.

    I paid $521 in Orlando (exchange rate through Nationwide was 1.53). I also got the proper Apple case and I am REALLY pleased with both. Unfortunately so is my wife.

    I also got $50 itunes card for US Apps and still working out what I want. Spreadsheets (a la Numbers) was a must for me.

    When I get back to UK, I will flog my Macbook and probably get a UK 3G in a couple of weeks. It may be a big iTouch, but I love it already.

    So I re-did the maths this time including VAT:

    16Gb = $499 = £326.39
    + VAT @ 17.5% = £57.11
    Total = £383.50

    32Gb = $599 = £391.60
    + VAT @ 17.5% = £68.53
    Total = £460.13

    64Gb = $699 = £457.21
    + VAT @ 17.5% = £80.01
    Total = £537.22

    Pushing the estimates up to:
    16Gb = £399.99
    32Gb = £499.99
    64Gb = £599.99

    One word = Gutted

    So this now begs the question for those in the US who already have one.
    Would you have paid the equivalent of over $600 for the 16Gb iPad??

    I am very surprised that this can be done, although it does makes sense, when I look at the Apps in iTunes it does separate the ones that are iPad compatible already.
