iPad USB adapter

Does anyone know if it would be possible to use a USB Female to Female adapter on the USB sync lead, so that a USB pen drive or USB SD adapter could then be used to load movies, photos etc onto the iPad. If yes, then for less than $5 one could have an adapter instead of the expensive Apple connector kit. I can't think of any reason why this shouldn't work. Has anyone tried it? 😕

Then one could carry multiples of 64Gb cards to greatly extend the capacity of even the 64Gb ipad. 😀

Good idea, haven't tried it though....

Not sure if the iPad would recognize it however, there may be something special in the apple camera kit.

I've read somewhere that a USB drive would be recognized, but it wouldn't mount.

There's a post from weeks ago from someone who said they tried it and it doesn't work. It's in the same thread as the discovery that USB keyboards and headsets work with the camera kit.
