The Apple Stores in my area have Norton for Macs on the shelf.
Does this fact make you feel good every time you scan virus on your PC, or have to re-install Windows because it's infected? 😀

Not really a bad technology....netflix uses its well. I mean, very MS based, but my (limited understanding) is that it isn't actually that bad.
I have dual core 2,4Ghz AMD machine and it's only a few years old. And no, there's no craps in my PC. This is a self-bulit, self-installed machine. You knows, unlike MAC, we can built a PC ourselves, right?
Funny my wife's most complaints about her cheap notebook (notebook, not even netbook) is always how slow it boots, how slow it wakes. And it's a well-maintained. Please, I'm using Windows for 20 years and always built system myself. Don't be Windows apologist and don't give me crap about it's slow because it's not "well-maintained". It's slow because that's the way it is.
What is "well-maintained" anyway? Defrags HDD every few days? Please..
If you have only IE in your machine then perhaps it can be freaking fast. Use it normally as a tool for a few months and it'll slow down significantly.

How hard was it to upgrade to Win 7 Pro. Did you wipe it first, or just upgrade ? What about drivers and utilities ?
It blows chunks that a device marketed for corporate users would come with home edition.
Don't talk about Windows and being instant in the same sentence. I'm using Windows daily and it never be instant. Wait until you're using it a couple of months, it'll slow down to a crawl. It's always like that. New machine, very fast. A couple of months old, you almost didn't believe it's the same one anymore.
3 hour battery life!?
nooooooo thanks
(not to mention i have no desire to use windows on a tablet)
^^ Thanks, man. Good to hear and I feel better about my pre-order now. Gosh these things get sold out fast!!!
This Asus tablet looks really cool and I'm sure it's a great device (except for the battery life). There have been similar products on the market but they are all three times the price. BUT, I wouldn't call it an iPad alternative. They are meant to do different things. The iPad is basically a toy, for reading/watching content and running custom made apps. The Asus is a computer that runs windows programs.
Want to take out your tablet and page through some news on the bus? Get ready to wait a minute for it to start up, then another minute to open firefox. Yeah, it's only 2 minutes, but still a minute and fifty seconds longer than it would take with the iPad.
Obviously, the best solution is to get one of each.
For a "full OS experience" I pull out the laptop or get on the desktop. More power, much cheaper.
I just bought the wife's daughter this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...cm_mmc=BFUS-_-32-_-N82E16834115860&nm_mc=BFUS
To replace the iMac desktop I had gotten her. (I took the desktop in exchange). I had bought it in Dec, so I only paid $599. Much more powerful, larger hard drive, faster graphics, and lower cost. Why do you think the Windows tablets or convertibles that have been made for the last ten years have been failures or had low sales numbers ?
Let's not forget that sucker also weighs 2.56 lb. I can see the complaining now on windowstabletrumors.com.
iOS and Android are not "full OS's" ? Or do you mean the
The only Thing you have is space Here.
The slate is much Powerful in Loading running APPS_ Also This sits At the base of my 55"- TV and use The blue Tooth key board for The ultimate Media TV-with its HDMi, I admit The "new" Price is high but it is Not that bad With the The Solid State speed I run CS5 Just fine Loads in 5-7 secs. don't be a hater it will Sell Nice 🙂
No, it has SSD, and boots up faster than an AIR. A user in the Macbook Air forum posted his test. He has an Air, ASUS and a MBP 17. The ASUS lost to the MBP 17 with SSD, but beat the air.
It also runs full photoshop etc.
Has a 5 hour battery life when doing light work. #-3.5 doing heavy work.
I'm waiting for it to get back in stock at Fry's.
Gonna try and hackintosh it.
"Yes, but with a MacBook pro when it gets to be five to six years old and isn't quite working right, it can be brought to an Apple store, if the individual is of the proper gender and build, they can get it fixed and upgraded for free. Buy a cheap Dell or HP laptop and when you call you get India. (No offense to our Indian friends, but I am in the US and speak English). Buy a cheap WalMart laptop and what do you get? "
Absolute nonsense, Apple will never give you a free upgrade to a 5-6 year old machine unless there is a widespread manufacturing defect that they choose to acknowledge - such as the defective Nvidia cards.
Back to the topic of the 121, its pointless comparing it to the iPad since they are designed to do two very different things. For digital artists the 121 is exactly what many of us have been waiting for since it has enough grunt to run Photoshop, Illustrator, Painter, and uses a pressure sensitive Wacom stylus (an essential inclusion). It's certainly more portable than my MBP & Intuos tablet combo. The only disappointing aspect is the battery life.
It would be fantastic if Apple were to release an i5 tablet with Wacom support and great battery life, at the moment that doesn't seem likely :/
Actually the best solution is iPad and a laptop...
I suggest learning how to use an iPad, before calling it a toy.

Your are correct on some points. The 121is a bit of a niche device. But that niche can be pretty big. As I posted earlier, I have used Windows slates for years. If I were a student again I would choose the 121 over the iPad for school. Especially if I were taking classes where my notes included formulas or drawings since the handwriting recognition is so good. Also, getting your documents on and off the slate is much easier than an iPad.
However, the iPad is a nice device. Especially because of the long battery life and portability. IMHO both are a bit of niche devices. Just depends on which niche fits you personally.
As for the Asus being "a pen only" device - I don't know what you mean by that. It comes with a bt keyboard and touch works just fine also. The stylus is just the icing on the cake for when you need to do writing/drawing (or in the case of my husband who seems to be incapable of using just his finger on ANY touch device).
If the iPad suits your needs, you can not beat it,
long battery life, very smooth finger touch UI.
Still, many have been waiting for a quality Windows 7 tablet.
HP's slate is decent but the netbook Atom cpu
and smaller screen leave something to be desired.
Asus took it to the next level
with the EP121's larger 12" quality screen,
Wacom pen input, and a dual core i5 low voltage CPU,
HDMI out, USB ports and a SD slot.
I would not sell my iPad for and just use the 121,
just love the iPad's silence, long battery life and smooth touch browser.
But the EP121 certainly offers much more
and if needed plugging it in is an option 99% of the time
in my uses.
Just wanted to let iPad owners know my experiences with it.
