This is a correct iPad wallpaper. As you can see the subject matter is not ruined in either view. I would hope that uploading a seperate picture with your wallpaper that shows both views would become a standard for posting wallpapers here. As it will give users the chance to see what the are getting.

when I'm looking at 1024x1024 ipad sized wallpapers I just mentally
cut off 1/2 inch from sides/top n bottom.
