I have both Bluetooth keyboards and the Logitech Slim Folio for my 12.9 Pro and all work equally well, the difference being convenience and portability. The Slim Folio is very nice but it is heavy/bulky but the separate keyboards are just that - separate. I have the Apple Smart Keyboard for my 10.5 Pro but don't care for it as a keyboard or as a case (plus, the ASK is just way overpriced).

I have the Apple Smart Cover for my iPad Pro 10.5” and then decided to get the Brydge for my iPad Pro 12.9” 3rd gen. The ASK was fine, but I decided to get the Brydge this time around for the extra functionality, being backlighting and extra buttons on the keyboard. However, the Brydge is quite heavy and it just stays at home. My iPad Pro 12.9” goes out with me just as much as my 10.5”, but with just the Apple Smart Cover and I use the onscreen keyboard. The onscreen keyboard is great, but if I was to start again I’d pick the ASK. Not only would I have gotten it much sooner, but It would be so much lighter.

I have the ASK and Apple rear shell for my iPad Pro 9.7, but have also used a Brydge (which my son now uses with his - so he no longer has a laptop), but I am currently using a Logitech Keys to Go and a Twelve South BookBook case.

The latter is the perfect compromise between lightness/portability and robust protection of the iPad, in my opinion. The keyboard feels effectively the same as the ASK, but without being tethered to the iPad. I don't experience any lag and the keyboard feel is the same as the ASK.
