Hello Everyone,

I am looking to purchase an older used iPAD but I need to know which one will support Netflix? Any suggestions on which to purchase and what is a good price to pay??

The iOS Netflix app requires an iPad to be able to run iOS version 12 or later. A basic new iPad 7th generation Wi-Fi only is currently sold for $329 at Apple, and often other retailers like Best Buy have them on sale for $279. You can find less expensive used current and previous versions sometimes in the Apple Refurb Store or places like Swappa.

The iPad 7 also constantly goes on sale for $249 in certain places.

Current version of Netflix does. Tested a device with iOS 9 and older version of Netflix still works.

That said, an iPad 7th gen for $229-279 would be my choice. Lowest I'd recommend considering is 2017 9.7" iPad 5th gen since that has H.265/HEVC hardware decoding. However, you're not really saving a lot of money with those compared to sale pricing on 7th gen.

If you get an old device without the app on it then it the app might not be available for download in the App Store anymore if the developer wants to pull it, right?

While that's true, doesn't really seem to be Netflix's style thus far.

Netflix seems more interested in supporting as many devices as possible. I remember being able to reinstall and watch Netflix on iOS 6 before the GPS bug forced me to update to iOS 10 last year.

In any case, iPad 5th gen runs iPadOS 13 just fine anyway. Even the Air 2 does but that one doesn't do HEVC decode.

Speaking of iPad 7 sales, Best Buy and Amzon today have the 32GB for $249 and the 128GB for $329.99 USD.
