iPad2 - can't activate

I have an iPad 2 thats been working fine but suddenly overnight it wants to be activated and both the iPad and itunes says the Activation server is temporarily unavailable.

Is anyone else having this? Is there a solution?

Edit: well that was weird. Dropped it into DFU and did an upgrade with the same result. I did a full restore via DFU and its back to normal.
