iPad2 The Netherlands Thread

Hello everyone!

I live in Rotterdam and I thought that it would be useful to open a thread to discuss pre-orders, in store buying etc. (In the Netherlands)
Are there any news about pre-orders? Which stores will have the iPad 2 on lunch day? Could we pre-order in the store and pick it up on the 25th?
Less than a week already :D

I heard that some have pre-ordered at Dixons and iFactors, but there's not a single store that knows how much stock they will receive and on top of that both MediaMarkt Rotterdam and MediaMarkt Zoetermeer have canceled there nightly launch on the 25th according to their twitter accounts.

It doesn't sound right, guys. I hope the release of the iPad 2 won't be delayed in the NL. And if it will, hopefully Apple is going to fix those nasty issues, such as backlight bleeding, and then release a perfectly flawless device.

iFactors Rotterdam is pre-ordering? I guess I will pop by tomorrow to check it out!
 
Waarom praten we hier niet gewoon Nederlands dan?

Ik heb een pre-order geplaatst bij HTR in Arnhem, maar die konden absoluut niks beloven en ze konden me ook geen informatie geven over de release etc. Of ze hadden er gewoon geen zin in, het zijn niet de meest behulpzame mensen daar.

Hoe dan ook, ik zag iemand wat zeggen over een nightlaunch en twitter etc..ik heb de betreffende twitter accounts opgezocht en ik zie niks er over staan hoor?

Hmm nouja, dat is niet echt iets om zorgen te maken nog denk ik. Misschien dat Apple het ook in Nederland zo strak wil regisseren, met bijvoorbeeld een verkoop vanaf 17:00 uur. Alhoewel dat met de Nederlandse openingstijden niet heel handig is.

Ik ben benieuwd hoe erg het probleem met die "backlight bleeding" nou daadwerkelijk is.


ps: hoor net van iemand dat de distributeurs gisteren nog steeds geen artikelnrs hadden..waarom is Apple zo traag

AMSTERDAM – De iPad 2 zal gewoon op 25 maart gelanceerd worden, ondanks de enorme populariteit in de Verenigde Staten en de ramp in Japan.

Dat heeft Apple in een hele korte verklaring aan Techradar laten weten.

“Alles op onze website klopt nog steeds. Op de website staat 25 maart, dus dat zal het zijn”, aldus Apple.

Hoewel Techradar de vraag specifiek voor het Verenigd Koninkrijk stelde, kan uit het antwoord van Apple opgemaakt worden dat ook de Nederlandse lancering niet uitgesteld zal worden. Op de website van Apple staat namelijk nog steeds dat de iPad 2 ook hier op 25 maart gelanceerd wordt.

Geruchten

Geruchten over een uitgestelde lancering doen sinds de lancering in de VS al de ronde. Daar werden naar verluidt in het openingsweekend ruim een miljoen tablets verkocht. De levertijd is inmiddels flink opgelopen. Door de tsunami in Japan zouden onderdelen van de iPad 2 bovendien moeilijk leverbaar zijn.

Inmiddels lijkt dus zeker dat de nieuwste tablet van Apple gewoon vrijdag 25 maart in Nederland zal verschijnen.

Because this is a english speaking forum, and everything written here should be understandable for everyone (no matter what are the reasons why someone would read this thread)
 
Oke, pretty lame, but have to respect that. Made a call to my APR this morning (before the press release) and they told me i could pick up my preordered ipad @5 o clock. I just hope and pray I don't have any light bleeding. Im not sure how easy it is to bring a faulty ipad back in holland, will i get a new one immediately?
 
I live near Arnhem but will be in Utrecht on Friday. Think I will go stand in line at the MediaMarkt at around 03.00 pm unless they will ship the ipads within a week when ordered online at 01.00 a.m.
 
I went around in Rotterdam today and this is what i found:

-iFactors does not take reservations
-Dixons has a list to reserve them for friday but they do not know how many units they will receive.

In Dixons I have seen that the prices are 20 euros more expensive than in the app store. Does anyone know what are the dixons return and guarantee policies? Does it offer any extra (like two years guarantee) or although it is 20 euros more you get the same than in any other store?

a logical explanation would be that they haven't adjusted the prices yet. Most stores thought it would be the same pricing as iPad1, as that was what Steve Jobs told at the event. I'm pretty sure they will change it, the website even says 479

and i wouldn't be too worried about the backlight bleeding stuff. There are some terrible examples, but in most cases you won't notice a thing. 100% brightness in a totally dark room with a totally black screen is not a regular situation in which you will use your ipad
 
And, besides the 1 year guarantee that Apple offers, if I buy it in dixons, do I have something more or it's exactly the same than if I would buy it in the apple store online?

EDIT: I found this in the dixons.nl, I guess that because you buy it in there you have the guarantee of the shop besides the one from apple. However, I do not know where to place the iPad... you think it would be 2 or 3 years warranty??

im not sure but i think its dutch (EU) law anyways, so doesnt really matter where you buy it.

This is from the website of the Consumentenbond:

Veel ondernemers en consumenten denken dat de wettelijke garantie twee jaar is. Voor Europa is inderdaad bepaald dat iedereen een wettelijke garantie van twee jaar heeft. Dit staat in de Europese Richtlijn Koop en Garantie. Die twee jaar is een minimum. Het kan dus zijn dat in sommige Europese landen de wettelijke garantieperiode langer is.

In de Nederlandse wet staat niet hoeveel jaar wettelijke garantie u hebt. Daarin staat namelijk dat u recht hebt op een product van goede kwaliteit. In Nederland wordt de wettelijke garantie ook wel 'het wettelijk recht op een deugdelijk product' genoemd. Hoe lang u dat wettelijk recht hebt, hangt af van het product dat u koopt. U moet het product bijvoorbeeld een bepaalde tijd normaal kunnen gebruiken.

Voorbeeld
Van een wasmachine mag u verwachten dat die een langere tijd meegaat dan een paar schoenen voor uw kind. Gaat uw wasmachine na vier jaar stuk, en is het niet uw schuld? Dan hebt u volgens de wet nog steeds rechten. U kunt dus nog teruggaan naar de winkel.

In Nederland hebt u dus vaak langer dan twee jaar recht op een deugdelijk product.
 
Guys sorry for being out of topic but I really want to know which store in Netherlands is the official apple store? or there isn't any?

Will the non official store, say, the premium reseller cover the worldwide warranty that each apple product has?
