Our store has iPad 2's on open box. The sales guy told me that they usually send returns back to Apple on them, but because the iPad 3 was coming out they had more returns than usual so they marked them down 10% taking a loss.

I didn't think they'd be doing it for iPad 3 models, but I may have to check it out to see if they have any.

$50 off isn't nearly enough to make a best buy open box iPad worth it IMO. It's still an expensive tablet. Maybe $100 off I'd take a look but otherwise I'd rather just pay $50 more and get a new one.

$50 is $50 bucks to me. Oh, I lost 2 days of warranty. Glad you have $ to burn :)

I just don't trust Best Buy to offer an unblemished iPad. However, I guess you could return it if that were the case.

I got burned once when I purchased a refurbished macbook pro from Apple. The entire computer was so warped that it would not sit flat on a table. It was all good since they took it back, but it was a hassle.

Anyway, enjoy your iPad. :)

They had one open box 32GB and the rest were new 64GB models. They were cleaned out pretty good.

Do share which store/ location/ city? What price were they marked down to?
Is there tax% where you are?

I go my wife a 32GB at Best Buy launch for $599, realized 32 is now too small for her apps and went to BB the next day and exchanged for a 64GB open box for $629.

What kind of apps/ work / functionality is she using on it that 32GB would be small so soon? Just wondering so I can decide between 32 & 64. And if the 30$ price difference for open box 64 gets me more Storage, I am game.

Just go to bestbuy.com then click on find a store. Enter zip then under that store you can see clearance and open box items.

I got an AT&T 16 gb iPad for 567 which was awesome. I do not regret this open box buy. It still had the factory wrap on iPad itself.
