I know there’s iOS 12.4.9. But iPadOS 12.4.9? Really? You can really go back home?

Does this mean I can downgrade? I want to try this on my wife's air2 which has been really slow.

Sounds like something might be off in the article, unless something rather odd and essentially inline happened somehow.

Realistically speaking iPadOS hasn't been something that existed until version 13, so for 12 it would all just be iOS 12. It seems like this update would apply to iPad Air, but not iPad Air 2 (which supports iPadOS through the current version 14).

Looking at Apple's security updates it seems to confirm that as well:

Yeah I think the writer of this article screwed up. 12.4.9 is only being reported as available for devices that do not support iOS/iPadOS 13 & 14, so iPhone 5s, 6 & 6 Plus, iPad Air, Mini 2 & Mini 3 and iPod Touch 6. Still impressive that Apple is continuing to provide security and bug fix updates for these devices though!
