I’m very happy that I’ll finally be able to use my Magic Mouse and trackpad with my iPad. I hope someone comes out with a similar keyboard/trackpad for non pro iPads, I’d be all over that.

Man, they upgraded the Air too, to a quad core and scissor keyboard. I'm all in on that. Between that and my iPad, I've got an amazing mobile workstation.

Thought this was a joke; 300 to 350 bucks for a keyboard, but it isn't.
Unfortunately there will be people out there who will buy this and further support Apple's price gouging and they will keep laughing all the way to the bank.

Wow! $349 plus tax For a keyboard. I guessed $270. That’s almost the price of an entry level iPad. Insane what Apple can changer. That much and I’ll end up buying it. I guess that’s why Apple can keep doing it.

Wait, at that price is the outside material different? Cause the current material isn’t worth $349. It feels good but doesn’t hold up to real world full time use. Apple care for keyboard?

With the larger screens, iPadOS... the iPad has moved quite a bit away from the iPhone.

So my question is why isn't Apple moving more toward a desktop interface with resizable windows, multiple screens, etc. It seems to me that all of this wrangling of multi-tasking, slide overs, etc. would be best served staying in iOS while iPadOS would be better served evolving more toward a traditional desktop interface.

It's a serious question, it's just something I've been wondering about. I'd be interested in other takes on it.

Did this iMac patent make its way to the iPad instead? When I saw the new iPad Pro magic keyboard today I couldn‘t help but think of this apple patent from 2010 for a touch screen iMac. We obviously never saw this come to reality but I wonder if any of this design eventually made its way to the iPad Pro magic keyboard...

So I've read through the webpage and watched the vids and I have to say the keyboard is a bit more than what I thought.

Think of it as a hub/dock, keyboard, trackpad, and stand.

Sure $350 for the 12.9" is STEEP, but I get to replace at least three items on my desk currently. And combined my stand ($99), hub ($50) and keyboard ($99 - $179 depending) aren't as versatile as what I'm seeing in the dock.
Cool, but why not just a MacBook Air?

I'm currently running the 13.4 iPadOS Beta 5 on my 10.5" (2017) IPP and I'm not seeing any new support options to suggest that iPadOS now has "full mouse and trackpad support"... There's no traditional right click options like you would have in MacOS, just the ability to bind it to some other function in iOS such as long press. Only difference I can tell is that the circular cursor size can be made slightly smaller, and the setting is still buried in Accessibility features.

I am curious how this changes now in the GM.
If you are testing would you be so kind to share how is it now?

I wonder if my Magic Trackpad (first version) would work......

Not sure, but maybe some added trackpad actions like 2 fingers to scroll, pinch to zoom, etc.?

As well as other creator apps like Adobe suite, Logic Pro, etc. It's obvious that Apple's focusing on iPhones & iPads (that's where the money's at), so why not just put everything they need to create for iPad there?
Final Cut Express, Logic Express and Xcode Express! You read it here first...

Because of some $0.20 backlight LEDs? You serious?

Taking it all into context ..... yeah, very.

Surface Pro keyboard is $150, doesn't have a backlit, and doesn't offer any viewing angle, charging pass through, or back protection.

Also, it's a bit disingenuous to say that the backlit costs $0.20. It's not like you can buy a backlit off the shelf and install them yourself aftermarket. Or engineer them into an Apple proprietary system that's integrated with the operating system.

Be a bit more realistic.

£349 for a keyboard, which, when folded has the keys and their grime against the display, rubbing the display in your bag, marking the screen. Nope.

Finally some true mouse support, took them enough time!

Looks like they did it right even if it took them a while. Just tested with a Magic Trackpad and the multitouch support is very good. Right click support Is there as well. The context based morphing cursor is a very Apple-like solution.

Looks like the keys are in a concave area, like the mac. Should be better than the previous keyboard.

Like a laptop?

Like every laptop?

Although, I don't think you can (or haven't seen) the new keyboard folded backwards.

Laptops have a either a lip around the display or standoffs or the keys are slightly recessed to protect the screen. Although it looks like the Magic Keyboard has the keys recessed so might be ok. Will need to check it out in person.

It is an overpriced piece of junk and the trackpad size is too small. Apple is shipping more junk and you can blame peasant guy such as TIM COOK for more inferior Apple products.

Absolutely AGREE! That's a very good point 👍🏻👍🏻

$350 keyboard that doesn’t even have shortcut/function keys?

Tim Cook told Apple Employees to cheap out on the function keys and make it overpriced with fewer features.

Pretty damn expensive for a keyboard. I wonder how sturdy that hinge is... I just imagine that thing flopping around.

The hinge and materials are very cheap. RUBBISH PRODUCT!
