Yeah, that's where I'm wondering if it's more of a Bluetooth version issue (3.x vs. 4.x LE/Smart vs. 5.x, etc.)

It's not, the newer versions of the iPad have 3 antennas while the older models just two (one is shared between BT and 2.4Ghz Wifi).

That's the reason beyond that message.

I think there may be more to it though...totally like your theory as a starting point though!

How new are we talking? My 2018 12.9" Pro is showing the message with random mice (no message with Magic Trackpad 2 or Magic Mouse 2).

Similarly, it appears for those random mice and doesn't appear with a Magic Trackpad 2 or Magic Mouse 2 on a 2019 7th-gen iPad (which I'd assume has a two-antenna design since it's a rehashed 6th-gen in many ways).

In that way, the "symptom" follows the peripherals, not the iPad.

Would Apple be doing something special with their peripherals to hide the message on less capable iPads? Unfortunately, I'm stuck at home, otherwise I'd grab an Air 2 the next time at work and see what it says.

I want to get my hands on one of the new Logitech Pebble i345s and see how it behaves, too.

I have been using the Magic Mouse 2 with no issues. Point, click, scroll, and back swipe work fine.

I’m using the Magic Trackpad 2 with my iPad Pro 10.5 on everyday basis, like you’d guess I’m getting that message. To be honest, while running 13.4 beta, I had some disconnecting issues with my 5Ghz connection but since the stable version was released I didn’t have any issues with that.

The one thing that reminds the same is that thing with keyboard + Trackpad + airdots (Sbc codec) not working well. However, with an AAC headphone everything works great.

2018 12.9 Pro - no message with Magic Trackpad 2, warning message with Logitech MX Anywhere 2s. No connection issues with WiFi (2.4 GHz & 5 GHz) or other Bluetooth devices in use - Logitech keyboards, Sony earbuds, Bose headphones.

I appreciate the data point with that—I think this is the first time someone has said they've seen it with a Magic Trackpad 2 on any iPad.

I mentioned that I don't see the message with my 2018 12.9 Pro with the Magic Trackpad 2. I just tried it with my 10.5 Pro and do see the message there. Both on 13.4.1.

I’m trying to decide on picking between the Magic Trackpad 2 versus the Magic Mouse 2. Gestures are important, but I think having a Trackpad on the go seems kind of too much? But I’m open to recommendations.

If gestures are important, I'll highly endorse the Magic Trackpad 2. I don't think it adds much bulk to carry around over the Magic Mouse 2 but I find the extra functionality makes a huge difference. I hijacked mine from my iMac for the interim but have a new Magic Keyboard arriving next week so it'll be going back to the iMac.

I don't see the message on my 2018 12.9 Pro with my new Logitech MX Master 3 mouse but I do see it on my 10.5 Pro with the same mouse. Might it be because the 12.9 Pro and the Master 3 are Bluetooth 5 (they are) while the 10.5 Pro is Bluetooth 4?

I got a Logitech Pebble i345 today (the iPad-specific Pebble—ordered it awhile ago and they finally shipped) and it's not bad, but shows the "may cause interference" message on both my 7th-gen iPad and my 2018 12.9" iPad Pro. Functionally, it seemed fine, but you'd think Logitech would've solved that (at least for the Pros if there is something to their antenna arrangement).

Other than that, it seems no different than the prior Pebbles, and maybe a bit worse—for the same price, they come in other colors and have Bluetooth or the Unifying Receiver (USB). Mine just has the embossed Unifying logo next to the pairing button and a hole to store a nonexistent Unifying Receiver.

Any way to go back to home screen using mouse ?

If you go to the bottom of the screen and keep moving downward (hard to describe) it takes you home for models with home buttons, for USB-C Pros, you can click the home bar.

I believe the msg issue is with regards to Bluetooth versions (4 vs 5) on both the mouse & the iPads. I don't see the msg on Logitech mouse (MX Master 3) & 2018 12.9 Pro - both BT 5.

Yeah, I just find it funny that Logitech is marketing the i345 specifically for iPad use—seems like something that they would've parts-binned components to avoid that message.

Hi, in a month or two, I'm getting an iPP and since I'll be using it as a laptop replacement more or less, I need a mouse or trackpad. Right now I'm looking at the Logitech M590, MX Master 3 or a Magic Trackpad 2.

Which do you guys and gals think will work the best? Or any other suggestions?

I have the Master 3 and Trackpad 2 and both work quite well. The Trackpad is smoother and supports gestures while the mouse gives me finer pointer control. Very different devices and depends on whether you prefer one over the other.

Did not have a good experience with the MX Master 3. Very jittery scrolling as are most 3rd party mice. Magic Mouse 2 is excellent.

How do you guys use the Magic Mouse 2 over long periods with that ridiculous shape?

I get flashbacks of carpal tunnel pain just looking at it ;)

Attaching myself here as it seems like the most appropriate thread for a possibly stupid question. :D

I recently got an iPad 8th (my first iPad) and I've been looking at cheap keyboards and mice for it. While keyboards seem to be a non-issue, I'm a little confused about mice/trackpads.

Some guides I see say that you have to enable AssistiveTouch, which appears to be an "older" way to interface a mouse with the iPad; others make no mention of it, and just say you should be able to pair the mouse via Bluetooth.

My understanding is that AssistiveTouch sort of overlays a mouse pointer to simulate a finger, and does not provide all the features of the "newer" experience (such as the pointer "hugging" the icons and whatnot).

As I currently lack a Bluetooth mouse to give it a go, I was wondering: do *all* BT mice work nowadays on iPadOS 14, without requiring AssistiveTouch? Or does that depend on the device itself?

A mouse will work without activating AssistiveTouch but if you want to assign specific actions to buttons and have those actions operative, AssistiveTouch must be enabled. But no, AssistiveTouch is not needed to be active for basic mouse operation.

Currently looking a mouse replacement for my Apple Mighty Mouse (with cable), obviously with Bluetooth.
Horizontal scroll is a must for my video editing timeline scrolling.

Was eyeing for MX Master 3 but heard many says third party mouse is jittery.
Magic Mouse 2 said to be the best option but like mentioned above, I had bad experience regarding the ergonomic back in my old Magic Mouse 1 days.

Any other suggestions?

I have and use the Master 3 and have not jitter issues with it. I used it this AM with Lumafusion - horizontal scrolling is nice.

Very interesting, I might have to find one to try before buying it.
It’s great if there’s no issue with Lumafusion.

I have my docked laptop (Dell XPS13) and 12.9 Pro side by side and it easily switches between the two. Oddly, scrolling in Excel on the iPad is much better on the laptop. I also really like the magspeed scrolling with it.
