I use a 5th generation 9.7” iPad, which I find perfectly adequate for my needs. I also sign up for Apple’s Beta Software program.

I’m running the latest Public Beta (17A5572a) but one of the issues I’ve been reporting since the early versions still has not improved - Photos app.

If I open Photos, select an image and click on ‘edit’, I get a never-ending ‘loading photo’ message. On the odd occasion that doesn’t happen, if I try to use the auto enhance feature, I get the same, interminable, ‘enhancing photo’ message. If I don’t happen to use auto-enhance then I click ‘Done’ and get ‘saving photo’ until I restart the iPad.

It must be getting close to being the final version now and I’m getting worried that, contrary to Apple’s assurances, the gen 5 won’t be able to run ios 13

Anyone else getting this problem?

Having now put iOS 13 on my iPhone 8 and found editing in Photos to work perfectly well, if not particularly quickly, I now suspect that the iPad gen 5 is simply not powerful enough to run this app properly. Or, at least, not in beta form. Maybe improvements will come along - or I’ll have to buy another iPad (or stick with iOS 12).

The public/dev betas are several versions behind what Apple builds and tests internally. Rest assured that major bugs have been identified will be fixed for launch.

We’re getting pretty close and this looks likes a fairly major issue to me.

Apple will pull buggy features that don't make it in time for release. Right now, it appears iOS 13.0 will be stripped of some features and many of them deferred until iOS 13.1.

Well, 13.1 beta is no installed - so we’ll see! Fingers crossed...

Well, 13.1 beta has solved most of the Photos problems for me! It’s now a perfectly usable app.
