Works as advertised so far. Looks like only certain files are supported for drag-and-drop at the moment. JPG works fine. PDF doesn't - the cursor goes across from the MacBook to the iPad but the file doesn't.

Next up: try in clamshell mode on an external display with external keyboard and mouse.

Wow, Apple seriously put some thought into this.

It works with an external display - just a generic 4K LG in my case. It works in clamshell and in non-clamshell mode. It works with the Apple Magic Keyboard & Mouse. It works with a generic cheap Logitech keyboard and mouse too.

And here's the real surprise... You can extend your MacBook display to the iPad to use as a second monitor then keep pushing towards the edge of the iPad screen to move from macOS to iPadOS on the iPad itself.

Crazy.

I wonder if someone will workaround Universal Control to enable it on 2015 and older Macs. There's a shortcut that enables AirPlay to Mac on older Macs, fingers crossed.

such a shame that Apple capped this feature.
Have it working on 2012 MacBook Air (OCLP) and and iPad Air 10.5

Imagine if they’d showed this at WWDC ‘22 and shipped it on time instead of showing it way too early as a video demo and repeatedly delaying it.

Great. Hopefully these also have their share of quirky behavior, which people give hope... for bug fixes in next release.
Seriously, what about things that matter? Do find and windowserver still leak memory?

How was apple to know that a pandemic was coming in 2020? Features take time to develop and get right!
To be completely fair, doctors and nurses were already wearing masks long before 2020. It would have been good to have this feature for them, but I can see why it wasn't a priority.

I have found that most of the people worried about being tracked aren't worth tracking in the first place.
Emmanuel Macron might disagree with you. Seriously, if Apple software secure and stable (which is not the case lately, sadly) may be it would be less of concern and Apple was the only one capable of accessing this information, it might have been less of concern, despite being serious breach of privacy. The problem is that Apple software is far from "secure and stable" these days, sadly. Unfixed serious issues with OS and frameworks (whether because they do not care or are not able to do that) are very disturbing.

While Google's open security team has claimed the Linux kernel code is not good enough, I am afraid to think what goes with Apple software these days. Sure, they might have great engineers - but bugs are still bugs.
"Closed code with customer" as QA model will eventually result in a disaster. Simply, because potential exploits will not necessarily be reported to Apple, but eventually used directly.

So, any of you tried this out with the Apple Magic Mouse 2? I’m loving it, but what I can’t figure out is how to go back to homescreen on iPad with the magic mouse. I can scroll up and down no problem in an app with the 1 or 2 finger gestures, but I can’t seem to do a 3 finger upswipe to go home. Is there anything I can do to go to homescreen from the magic mouse or do I need to move my hand to the macbook air trackpad and do a 3 finger swipe up?

I can't get it working.
12.9" iPad Pro M1
2020 MacBook Air (Intel)

Does the Mac have to be an M1? I do not have the advanced tab in Displays.

Move the cursor to the Home Screen bar at the bottom and click on it. That should return you to the iPad’s Home Screen.

No. The Mac does not have to be an M1 product. Try restarting the MacBook Air and the iPad Pro. Once restarted, then try UC again.

It shouldn't because that would be a breach of the secure enclave data storage.
Hmm, I wonder which machine the TouchID would work with, then. Whichever one it is first paired with? Gotta be a way to reset the pairing though …

wondering this too. I could've sworn the code was there in the iOS 15 betas (iPad Pro)
Ok i just checked from Apple website.

Available on MacBook Pro (2016 and later), MacBook (2016 and later), MacBook Air (2018 and later), iMac (2017 and later), iMac (5K Retina 27-inch, Late 2015), iMac Pro, Mac mini (2018 and later) and Mac Pro (2019); and iPad Pro, iPad Air (3rd generation and later), iPad (6th generation and later) and iPad mini (5th generation and later). Both devices must be signed in to iCloud with the same Apple ID using two-factor authentication. To use wirelessly, both devices must have Bluetooth®, Wi-Fi and Handoff turned on and must be within 10 metres (30 feet) of each other. iPad and Mac must not be sharing a mobile data and internet connection. To use over USB, you must trust your Mac on your iPad.

OK so I've got this working fine on my old non supported 2013 iMac and iPad Pro - why oh why is this not working on my retina MacBook Pro 2015

Problem is - I can't even use OpenCore Patcher to install MacOS as I did on my old iMac as its officially supported In Monterey..

I hope one of you clever people on here can solve this quandary
