since now the ipad Pro and Macs have the same chip, they are somewhat ‘same’ computer in terms of internal components, i think it‘s reasonable to expect some more pro/desktop level features in the coming iPadOS. What are some of features/functions that you wish could be added to iPadOS?

1. spotlight like file content search. Right now the files app can only search for file names or tags, but on Macs spotlight can search within compatible files.
2. Proper external display support.
3. Use iphone apps in horizontal mode. Given now the boot logo rotates 90 degrees, maybe horizontal is the new default way to use an iPad. I which i could use the iphone apps in horizontal mode, or at least as a slide over

M1 XDR 12.9” Pro feature deal breakers on IPadOS 15

#1. Full Display out put support via Thunderbolt Out. If my M1 MacMini can offer 1440p 144hz HDR out via the same Thunderbolt out display we better get this on our M1 iPad Pros.
#2. Multiple Live Widgets and Apps on the Desktop Fast Forward to @7:21 to see what it should look like link at the bottom
#3. Massive support for Thunderbolt 3/4 USB-4 external Docks.

Where does Zollotech get that information from?

This is already partly there. Just checked this on iPadOS 14.5.2 and it apparently searches within Pages, Keynote, Numbers, Textfiles. At least these are compatible. Of course there is room for improvement 😁 like supporting the operators Spotlight offers on MacOS, etc..

Spotlight works like this already, for whatever I have searched for anyway.

I want-

Proper external monitor support

iPhone only apps to appear as iPhone sized slideover windows.

Slideover windows remaining/possible on the Home Screen even with no other app active.

Floating windows for full screen apps similar to how pip work, can slide off the screen as pip does also. (In multiples)

Backgrounded apps to still work for multitasking operations.

iPhone keyboard handoff for easy typing in some situations. (Similar to how Apple TV does it).

Improved sidecar.. work as an app - can start it up from iPad, can work as Remote Desktop. (Act as only screen for headless mac operation, and ideally boot mac remotely also).

Need
- apps to run in the background until closed
- pro level apps
- extended display support

Want
- better file system
- multi user support

For (hopefully) iPad Mini 4 and above

1080p at 60fps for 8MP back Cameras (and the 7MP Cameras on some models).

battery health option like iPhone 6 and above to see maximum battery capacity. I do not have a Mac for coconut battery and I do not wish to go to the Apple store just

low power mode. THIS……….

the first two betas of iPadOS 14 had low power mode for iPads but removed the option in beta 3. I get the chorus of people saying it works via Siri but Nope I’ve tried via Siri Siri’s response is that it isn’t available.

widgets on other areas of the screen like iPhone. I’d love to see the iPad Mini 4 and iPad Air 2 having this.

better support for files

Proper monitor support like macbooks
Fix mouse support with third party ones - still issues
battery optimization - all apple devices have this except iPads or at least provide a toggle
Force all ipad apps to provide split screen, Picture in Picture support
Launchpad like on macos
proper and working Ethernet support for 1GB

Xcode, File Management, Ability to run desktop apps when plugged into a dock/magic keyboard (trackpad and keyboard required). Netflix Spatial Audio. 4k downsampled Netflix instead of 1440p. Better designed Music app, it keeps getting redesigned but its still so hard to find good playlists and music for me, spotify does this so much better. Hifi Music. Siri improvements.

A apple designed messenger bag with iPad sleeve that's light weight and designed well.

1 - Final Cut Pro with existing plugin support
2 - Better file management (like a progress bar when you copy or paste, thing like that ...)
3 - Proper external display support (and not only a mirror mode!!)
4 - Improve the App Note (possibility to zoom, a bit more flexibility where to put element, draw on a text, make some floating text box etc ..)
5 - Improve Rappel App

=> I'm pretty confident about my expectations!

3 Minimum Wishes

#1. Better files support and file structure
#2. Visual indication of a connected USB-C drive and animations and Speed of data transfer
#3. a Dedicated Calculator

3 To the Moon Wishes we ain’t gonna get.

#1. DisplayPort out via Thunderbolt 3 with full resolution support like the MacMini outputs 1440p 144hz in HDR
#2. Full Speed M1 not Throttling to save batter and excessive heat. I think 🤔 it’s a down locked M1
#3. Ability to Run MacOS BigSur with Keyboard and Mouse support

Turn the iPad Pro into a proper development environment by using macOS in a VM. Release macOS Big Sur as an iPadOS app in the App Store.

I’ve seen a lot of people wishing for Xcode for iPadOS. But I don’t think that’s that simple. How would you run build time scripts without full terminal access? Or use CocoaPods? Or Git?

Boy oh boy this thread is going to be busy after WWDC, question is will people be happy or angry. 🤔😂

3d7h to go, iPadOS 15 on steroids is coming 😎

Update iMovies. I was shocked how barebones that SW is like, UI overly simplistic. Did they not update it since last time I checked, iOS 5? Only plus is it‘s free. I think I’ll sooner get Lumafusion on sale (just want to edit a single road trip) than Apple will update it though.

I’m confused… you paid over 1k for the new iPP and spending $30 is too much? I understand people don’t like to spend too much on apps, but LumaFusion is well worth it’s price.

I know you mention it’s just for a single road trip, but you could use the app in the future for other occasions.

I’m a student and simply don’t need spend money on things I don’t need at the moment. Sure LumaFusion must be nice to have on iPP, but for me it falls under category games/entertainment, not productivity.

With you being a student, I understand being budget conscious. I’m curious… why go with a 2021 iPP model when you could of gone with a discounted 2020/2018 model?

My most requested features:

In the realm of possibility:
-External display support- extend not just mirror and scale to monitor
-clamshell mode with external monitor
-Ability to force all iCloud Drive documents/folders to be downloaded to iPad (like they are on Mac for offline use)
-Ability to manage iTunes library (add music, change tags, etc.) (being able to run Mac Music app would work as well)
-Better Files app (show copy/move progress)
-Floating window (even if you can't resize)
-Interactive widgets anywhere on screen
-OS support for virtualization software (e.g. parallels)
-OS support for running Logic Pro
-Better external device support (external webcams for example)
-Better OS audio capabilities (multiple apps playing audio at once)
-Precise cursor mode (instead of round circle)

Keep dreaming bucket:
-Bootcamp support to boot iPad Pro into Big Sur (disabling touchscreen - requires mouse/keyboard)
-Ability to run Mac OS apps (require mouse/keyboard)
-"Activity Monitor" like OS process manager

I could have gone with Air too. Reasons are longevity of the latest chip, the display, student discount. I’m (slowly) transitioning back to Apple ecosystem, not going to update annually but I like the new tech.

It’s pretty much that (and there’s no shame in that)! iPads have quite a long support life… so I’m not sure about longevity of the chip really matters, you could of gotten 4 years out of the 2020 iPad Pro model.

And what does buying the 2021 iPP have to do with transitioning back to the Apple ecosystem?
