Anyone who or can test it Apple fixed the bugs with external hard drives on beta 4?

What is the issues that you've encountered? I have a iPad Pro 10.5 and have figured out that you need to have the 29 Watt USB-C to Lightning power supply plugged into the USB 3 camera connection kit to get a mechanical hard drive to work properly. I've tried using the 10 Watt supply and a 5 Watt supply and neither will work. I think the issue stems from the fact the iPad is trying to charge and the mechanical drive is drawing to much current. SSDs currently do not exhibit this problem and will work under most power supply configurations. I hope this tidbit helps.

It did fix connectivity to Lightning based iPads - now external storage and mice work over USB - I assume Ethernet is fixed now too!!

landi, SSDs most certainly are NOT working properly on the iPad Pro. I have a 12.9 2018 iPad Pro, running iPadOS beta 2, and I and others cannot get a Samsung T5 2TB SSD to function in a useable fashion. The SSD mounts in the Files app, and it can copy (read or write) small text files, but it refuses to copy (read OR write) larger video files (1 GB or larger) to or from the iPad. I get a message saying there's an input / out error (i/O). It's very frustrating, and reading different forums, other SSD owners are having the same problem. So please don't give forum members here the idea that all is well, when iPadOS remains a hot mess for SSDs.

Just throwing this on here:

I can’t get a 4gb+ video file to play off a flash drive formatted with ExFAT. The same file and drive formatted with HFS+ works fine. This is using the files app or my own app opening the security scoped url.

So yeah - there are a lot of bugs still. I’m slightly disappointed at the lack of progress so far. I expected bugs in beta 1/2 but I was hoping for some to start getting fixed in 3/4, and it doesn’t seem that many have been :/

Unfortunately I did not even manage to recognize my USB C lacie HDD of 2TB.. not showing up at all. Smaller usb drives work. iPad Pro 11” and latest developer beta

I guess apple has a long way to make external storage support good as many people are having issues with it
