I think you get more bang for your buck with the Air, over the mini. The biggest draw for the Mini is its form factor. If you want a smaller tablet then the Mini is your best choice.

If you're using it more at home than out and about then get the Air. The portability advantage of the iPad Mini isn't that big if you're not taking it around very much.
