Does anyone know if its poss to sync my ipaq on a mac or am i best using bootcamp/windows?

You might look into Missing Sync or Pocket Mac.
I haven't used either in a couple of years, but at the time they were both less than perfect. You'll want to look around for recent reviews of both to see how well they work.
