I got the iPhone 10 on release day but last night face ID stopped working after all week being fine.Pop up says it has been disabled. Has anyone else had this problem? Phone has been treated very gently and nothing is blocking the notch area.
Arranged to go to Apple Store but they won't guarantee a replacement as they say that they don't keep many in stock. I think this is poor service on such an expensive phone and I worry whether face ID is going to last.

Some users have experienced the same problem and were told to return the phone.

Most Apple stores have replacement phones in stock just for these kinds of problems. Your best bet is to walk in to your closet store.

Hi I have booked to go to Apple Store but they say that they don't keep many in stock as they get delivery in the morning and they can run out. I do think that this is wrong as They are making millions of them and they happily sell them but don't want to guarantee having a replacement. They say that they can take it at the store and post out a new one but I don't want to have to wait for delivery which will take a couple of days and me being without a phone.

Just walk in. Doesn't matter if you booked an appointment. Your chances of getting a replacement phone are greater by walking in, versus waiting. Replacement phones are given out first come first serve.

Hi My appointment is for early this evening. I feel it is wrong that they don't keep more in stock as I can't go all this afternoon . I will go in early but genius all booked up in london

If that is the case and they don’t have one, you can just return the phone (cash returned) and wait for another new one brand new in the box if you are so inclined. You will then need to have patience. You do not want to wait over the return period. Yes, it is too bad that they don’t have enough on hand but this is a popular phone and they made have had numerous returns already and Apple did not anticipate that, or did day :(

Update, I got the phone changed but the genius guy at Apple Store wasn't very helpful. He wanted to just replace the handset as a repair. I wanted to return mine and get new phone as I wanted to have my 14 day return option as Im not decided about the phone. He spoke to his manager and got it sorted in the end. The face id had stopped working because both front and rear cameras had failed. This phone was gently treated and never knocked. The replacement feels better. I understand why some people are wary of new release now. If I get a problem with the replacement in next 14 days Im returning it and will get a different phone as it feels like maybe the problems with getting the face id sensors to work have led to compromises on quality.
