My wife and I have identical iPhone 11s, we both have wi-fi turned on so phone will backup at night if plugged in. Mine works just fine but hers disconnects from wi-fi every time her phone goes or is put to sleep. This means her phone won't backup. My Router is a Netgear Orbi24 and our provider is Xfinity. I can't see that either of these could be the problem, since my phone works fine.

Any comments would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Backup would typically only work when plugged in and on WiFi. Usually phones will disconnect from WiFi after going to sleep if they aren't plugged in. Are both phones plugged in when this happens (and something like Low Power Mode isn't enabled)?

C DM thanks for the interest!

1. My phone never disconnects while in the house, and automatically reconnects when I return, and our phones rarely go into the 60s in terms of charge.
2. The wife's phone can't backup since it disconnects as soon as it enters sleep. I tried a test this morning. Woke her phone connected it to wi-fi and plugged it in while still awake and waited a while, then went back and woke it and checked wi-fi connection while still plugged in. It had disconnected 😩.

I'm baffled!

You might try this on your wife's phone:
restarting your router
forget and rejoin the network
reset network settings

Thanks BugeyeSTI

I tried your suggestion, but there is no change. It's odd that we have the exact same phone, and so far I have been unable to find any wi-fi or Internet settings that are not the same, yet mine works and hers doesn't.
