I've heard of some shops using them. Personally if I factor in my time and potential risk due to a variety of reasons (fitment, installation problems, part quality, etc) just having Apple do it for 89 usd isn't too far out of reach.

Ifixit has a device that makes opening iPhones easy. Might be something I’d get if I do this regularly. I successfully changed batteries on a number of iPhones but then again I’ve also ruined iPhones 2x doing battery swaps without the ifixit specialized pry tool.

I changed my iPhone 13 mini battery but I had Apple do it.

I replaced battery into iPhone several times but my doubt it's about battery quality and BMS swapping
