I'm inclined to believe these are merely third party silicone cases. I suspect the iPhone 11 will just get a clear case from Apple as was the case with the XR so the colours don't get covered up

Pro = 3 cameras
Max = larger display

What else would the 6.5" model be called? People might not like it, but the naming makes sense. Even Gurman has confirmed the "Pro" name.

What's more interesting is the naming of the R model to iPhone 11. It raises the perceived value of the R phone and it now belongs to the 11 series.

I would really prefer they drop the numbering and + or Max names altogether. Make it more like the computers and iPad, refer to the model and screen size (then everyone just keeps track of the year).

iPad Mini
iPad
iPad Air
iPad Pro (11")
iPad Pro (12.9")

iPhone (6.1") XR replacment
iPhone Pro (5.8")
iPhone Pro (6.5")

Then if they release a smaller version of the iPhone they could call it the iPhone Mini or iPhone Air, or just refer to it by screen size as well like iPhone (5.0") etc.

The naming for iPad and Mac works because Apple doesn't continue to sell old models when new ones are launched. For example, Apple doesn't continue selling iPad (2017) after iPad (2018) became available.

Without a numbering system, it's difficult for Apple to sell older iPhones.

Yeah, Pro Max seems pretty silly. But I thought Xs Max was silly too, so what do I know ha ha ha.

I really hope they stop with the "s" thing next year though. Pro-s and Pro-s Max would just be ridiculous.

While Apple themselves may not keep selling older models of iPad after the new version comes out, many other retailers do and it isn't that hard to keep track by year or generation without relying on a number in the name.
