My iPhone 11 bought on launch day has been losing 1% battery health per week since June and it’s now at 86% with 3 weeks to go until the warranty expires.
I contacted Apple about it a month ago and they don’t see the issue as a faulty battery even though my 18 month old XR is still at 91% capacity. Aside from the battery health the phone is too hot to touch when charging with a 5W Apple charger and lightning cable or wirelessly. The heat of a desk or a pillow after a few minutes of charging is not normal so obviously I’m being careful and not charging it overnight or when I’m not near it. Apple Support put me through to a health and safety department but again didn’t see the issue and they got me to upgrade from 13.6 to 13.6.1 which made no difference. They tried to blame App Store developers putting strain on the CPU by constantly sending and receiving data to the phone. While that might be true I think it’s a ridiculous thing to say to a customer considering how tightly sandboxed the App Store is.
Aside from the battery degrading fast the warranty is up in 3 weeks and Apple won’t do anything until it gets to 79% which won’t happen for another 6/7 weeks. Should I be pushing harder for a replacement? There’s no Apple Store in Ireland so this is all done through phone calls.
