My iPhone 11 bought on launch day has been losing 1% battery health per week since June and it’s now at 86% with 3 weeks to go until the warranty expires.

I contacted Apple about it a month ago and they don’t see the issue as a faulty battery even though my 18 month old XR is still at 91% capacity. Aside from the battery health the phone is too hot to touch when charging with a 5W Apple charger and lightning cable or wirelessly. The heat of a desk or a pillow after a few minutes of charging is not normal so obviously I’m being careful and not charging it overnight or when I’m not near it. Apple Support put me through to a health and safety department but again didn’t see the issue and they got me to upgrade from 13.6 to 13.6.1 which made no difference. They tried to blame App Store developers putting strain on the CPU by constantly sending and receiving data to the phone. While that might be true I think it’s a ridiculous thing to say to a customer considering how tightly sandboxed the App Store is.

Aside from the battery degrading fast the warranty is up in 3 weeks and Apple won’t do anything until it gets to 79% which won’t happen for another 6/7 weeks. Should I be pushing harder for a replacement? There’s no Apple Store in Ireland so this is all done through phone calls.

I try to do everything through my browser because nearly every app I try to use eats all the batteries on every iPhone I’ve ever owned since iPhone 7 Plus. I don’t know what the hell is going on. My launch day 11 Pro is at 97% now but that’s with very little 3rd party app use. And I don’t touch Facebook. That app destroyed my 7 Plus. FB is poison anyway.

I think they’re going to keep blaming the apps because there probably is some legitimacy to that, but you need to keep pushing back for a warranty replacement because part of the value of owning the phone is being able to use the danged apps!

Have you looked at your battery usage by App? It tells you what app is consuming the batteries and you can judge if it really is some poorly written apps or just the app drains heaps of battery in general. Just because the app is sandboxed it doesn't mean it won't drain battery. (I have a VOIP apps that would drain my battery very quickly if I don't force close it).

My Apple iPhone 8plus always felt extra warm i was using a Samsung wireles charger that my Sprint provider who sold me the iPhone recomended, after two years i noticed one morning the case was splitting because of the battery sweling.

I just wrote it off to my using the Samsung charging system, but as many have posted the phone is designed to not allow over charging.

Now that i read others have have hot battery problems using the Apple standard supplied charger, i feel there is a real problem with some Apple iPhone batteries.

If your iPhone battery is having these extra hot problems, i am betting it will at some time cause the phones case to split.

Unfortunately your battery degradation falls with their dismal longetivity spec so your battery health is "normal" as far as they're concerned. Funny how they rigged it so that the battery will just outlive the warranty. Battery replacement (which often leads to phone replacement instead) is a big income generator for them. A long lasting battery that could outlive the useful life of the phone would literally cost them billions of dollars in lost unnecessary iPhone upgrades.

Install the app CPU-x and look at the % of cpu usage. If it is over 15-20% there is something going on.

Also not happy with iphone 11 battery. Mine is at 89% and is only about 10.5 months old. More bothersome than battery health is that even though I charge it overnight, I'm now having to charge it again by late afternoon/early evening every day 😱 My previous iphone7 lasted years before it got to that stage

Same here - 12 months old iphone 11 and 1% battery down for 1 or 2 week per month from june/july... I have 89% now... Battery started dropping when I’ve used 29w macbook air charger for fast charging...

I have a question are you people saying that now you can't obtain a 100% charge? and is this what you mean by losing a % of charge?

Yes:
