But now it's more than consumer electronics. It's MOST pharmaceuticals we rely on. (see China Rx book)And 30 years ago, it was in Japan.
Still wonder a bit if some of the mystery occurrences of COVID-19 cropping up could be from things assembled/packed by someone who was ill in China and the virus managed to survive transit, until someone opened it. Not as a common thing (otherwise it’d be all over the place), but as a rare/freak occurrence.
... and there were people buying armfuls of iPhone 11s and Mac Pros.
Yes, the virus will be prevalent worldwide by 2021. Likely even sooner. It will be the same as influenza; available everywhere. While this sounds doom and gloom, all it does is turns off all of the travel bans. Why ban travel if something is already everywhere? My guess is this virus won't be stopped globally until 2021 when the 1st vaccines are supplied globally.
Till then, good luck with anything being in sufficient quantity for the year - your next-gen game consoles, GPUs, Apple products, Android products, etc.
This is the price we pay for "globalization" aka being heavily dependent on China for manufacturing...basically everything.
Apple should not have cancelled the iPhone SE.
The 11 is the first one to be unavailable, it is just a matter of time until they run out of all iPhones.
Apple (and its executives, shareholders, employees, customers) is just one of thousands of companies who benefited enormously, way beyond any other alternative, from the manufacturing and labour skills in China, that Apple can surely weather this current blip. So whiners, look at the complete picture first before mouthing off about China.

Yeah - they had to limit them to four per customer at one point.Reaaallly?
Given that the virus is everywhere, depending on china isn’t the issue.
I totally agree. The majority can wait and hold off except for those whose phone no longer works or got lost/stolen. There is no need to panic and just have to be patient and ride out this COVID-19 outbreak. None of us nor the newspaper have access to the inventory in NYC but I decided to do a quick scan of the availability which shows most models/colors/memory storage are in stock in most of the stores if I were to pick up today. It’s another attempt to hype the market, in vain. Nice try.
...Regarding your comment about supplies being constrained, I’m sorry to say China is now back to work at a 95-99% rate.
...
Apple factories have been back to work for weeks now. This shortage will be replenished in no time...
It's almost as if an epidemic has affected Apple's ability to do business in more ways than one. 🤔I think every post on the last two pages is somehow related to COVID lmao.
I was referring to dependency and potential inability to function without our first world gadgets. But I am sure you knew that.True, maybe... I don’t get what’s sad about it.
Who buys an iPhone mid-cycle? It’s not even a holiday or whatever
