Does the camera bump extend past the case?

It looks as if the camera bump has 2 tiers in the iPhone 11 Pro. One for the camera "housing" and another for the lenses themselves.

In previous iPhones with the camera bump, the lens sat flush with the Apple cases. Do we think the lens will still sit flush in the iPhone 11 pro or will it protrude past the case? This would be a horrible design decision if so!

It's kind of hard to tell from these pics if the lens will extend past the edge of the case or not.

It looks like it extends beyond the case, but I can’t tell until I get my hands on it or see reviews. If it extends beyond, don’t drop that bad boy, go the AC+ route.

Thanks. If it extends beyond the case, I'll probably be skipping this generation. I never minded the bump before because it never extended beyond the case and I've always used cases (Apple leather cases for the past few years).

I think it would look even more odd if it extended to the lenses.

You're right! Then there would be a gap between the case and the housing bump! So the lenses will definitely protrude past the Apple leather case! No more lay on the table design while in the Apple cases....sad day. :(

There is no way apple designed a case where the lenses stick past it. It will lay flush on a table in the case.

I do agree with this. I think the bottom 3/4 of the case will be thicker so it lays flat. I just don't thing it will extend beyond the camera to the circles of the lens.

The 11 Pro is all about the cameras (plural) and that makes me think Apple is highlighting the lens bezels in their photographs and renderings for that reason. As others have said, there is no way they would make a case that does not at least come flush with the lenses. So yes, an 11 Pro case will add some bulk.

No the current camera modules will be no different in height than that of the Xs Max.

there is an optical illusion happening because of the multi level but the glass base isn’t as tall as the module on the Xs line.

the case will be the exact same thickness as the Xs cases just with a larger camera cutout.

"Does the camera bump extend past the case?"

That's impossible to answer. It depends on what case you get.

Do you have anything confirming that? It really looks like they are not flush with the housing at all in everything I have seen.

edit: oh I see what mean. the housing is the same height on the sides. The top pic from the OP shows it.

Looking at apple site it doesn’t look like it protrudes more than the XS camera. It’s just two steps instead of one

Did a overlap test on photoshop and it exactly the same.
