iPhone 11 Pro iPhone 11 pro max notifications issues

notifications show up on the phone as normal except there's no sound at all. when I pick the phone back up I can see all the notifications on the lock screen but I was never alerted. also, my watch will ring and vibrate when I get a text but again, not the phone.

I've checked the settings and notifications are on. the side button is not on mute. do not disturb is off. ive reset all settings. rebooted and force restarted the phone.

anyone knows anything about this? I'd really like to avoid restoring the phone...

Something similar happened to me.

I wouldn’t get the notification alert sound until I unlocked the phone, and the volume for music, video, etc. was very low for a few minutes afterward.

Restarting—not restoring—fixed it though.

update: I tried a reset not he phone and it was working again as it should until I paired my Apple Watch to the phone. then the problem started again. it seems like my notifications are coming to my watch but being silent on the phone. Does anyone know how to fix it?

Not any help but I’ve had the same problem since I got my XS Max (even on iOS 12.x). Now it’s the same on my Pro Max.
Watch gives proper notification alerts, phone very intermittently.

If you wear Apple Watch, your iPhone doesn’t alert. It is normal. Don’t worry

Sounds like normal behavior.

When phone is asleep notifications will alert you on the watch not the phone.

When phone is unlocked and being used notifications will you alert you on phone and not the watch.

Since mid-way through iOS 12 it seems that notifications are either on the Watch or on the iPhone, but not on both, or at least not reliably.

If you're talking about no sound with iPhone notifications in iOS 13, that is a bug that many have experienced. I installed 13.1.3 today and I think that this problem *may* now be fixed.
