Yep, this is my first upgrade in 3 years so I’m super pumped this year. I’ll be skipping out of the store I’m sure :)

I’m probably going to head straight from UPS to the Apple Store just to check out the vibe. I might use their WiFi to set up my device if it’s not overloaded: normally it’s very fast, but tomorrow won’t be normal.

Found an interesting entry in my tracking from when it left China. I’ve never seen this before, and I’ve been pre-ordering iPhones since the 4.

My phone left Louisville at 7 PM, should be marked as arriving in Ohio any minute now. :)

EDIT: Right after sending this, I got a push notification from the Wallet app that I was just hit by Citizens One for my first 11 Pro Max payment on my AMEX. I’m in iUP.
I just got a slew of tracking info that showed up (it wasn’t there before).

My UPS tracking has a lot of past info now showing up about the customs scans.
Wish we had the one about “Apple Volume at origin pending departure on charter aircraft” in real time.

I do it this way...

- Unpair your old watch from your old phone. This will create a backup of your watch data to your phone.
- Backup old phone to iCloud. This will backup your phone and watch data.
- Setup new phone then restore the phone from the backup you just made.
- Setup new watch with new phone then restore watch from that backup made earlier.

actually.... isn't that the process with a new phone/old watch too? unpair, back up, set up, repair

Mine went from Louisville straight to Spokane, which they’ve never done before. It’s always gone to Seattle first. One less step! Now to pick up at CC tomorrow!
i Gotta wait for the brown truck. Hopefully it’s in the morning cause I got it shipped to a business. But i won’t be able to do much with it cause I’ll be at work 😩

Is that message just saying your iPhone is ready to go just waiting on the scheduled plane?

Final destination scan in Rocklin, CA for both phone and watch at 7:27pm.
My version of Christmas morning and day is confirmed...lol 🎄

Mine made it to Rocklin as well... iPhone 11 pro max... can’t wait to get home and set it up.

I think the devices are smarter these days. I replaced my phone recently, iCloud restore, and it asked me if I wanted to use my "old" watch with the new phone. I said yes and it seemed pretty much done with the sync at that point.

So I'd iCloud restore the old phone's backup to the new phone, and at a point it'll ask about the watch it knows based on the restore. Say yes to moving its pairing to the new phone and it's all set. Then open the new watch next to the new phone and it'll recognize there is a phone there that is synced to a watch. It'll ask if you want to use the old watch data/setup on the new watch, say yes. That might take a bit longer to do that sync. There is probably some passcode entering, and perhaps a scan of one device by another, but it tells you everything it wants you to do.

Based on the tedious processes of several years ago and doing all those "unpair and new pair" procedures, I would not want to do that again!

One of the really cool things about watchOS6 is that when the next update comes out for the watch, go to settings on the Watch-Settings>General>Software Update, and as long as the watch is on the same wifi as the phone it'll be able to download directly to the watch via wifi instead of (apparently) bluetooth from the phone to the watch, and the update will be complete in 10 minutes- this assumes respectable wifi speed, over 50% charge on the watch, and the watch placed into the charger for the update process.

What once was painfully slow and arduous is so much better with the current versions of iOS and watchOS!

Have fun!

PS I had planned to cancel my watch order for pickup at the Apple Store tomorrow, but maybe I'll have to keep it so that I can do these steps to make sure I got them right. :😁:
Thanks!

Wow, two confirmed dead in Texas flooding...Texas folks be careful out there.

I honestly think the first person or people that posts how pissed off they are that their phone is delayed because of flooding, should be banned from this forum. There are families out there tonight that would gladly give up their precious iPhones to have a family member back...

I agree, an iPhone is not as important as a life. The flooding was unexpected, and so devastating. We need to hope that people will be safe and thank first responders and others that are helping in the situation.
