Hey everybody!

So I‘m trying to figure out which phone suits me better and I must admit while I love the 11 Pro, I kind of fancy the slightly larger screen on the 11. While comparing the two phones next to each other I noticed that on the Pro Model the font in Safari is a lot bigger than it is on the regular model. This leads to the iPhone 11 showing a lot more of a website than the pro model (due to the bigger size AND the smaller font). Both phones are set on the smallest font size in the setting menu.. is that how it is supposed to be or can I change it somehow?

The XS and XR were like this as well. One of my dislikes about the XR.. a phone I love. Can’t you just notch up the text size on the 11?

Yes, it's supposed to be that way.

The 11 will show more content than the 11 Pro.

If you look behind the scenes, the 11 Pro will display about 10% less content horizontally and vertically compared to the 11.

TBH, I just tested this on my XR and it’s quite a jump from 100% to 115%. Not optimal IMO.

I can’t speak for the OP but the point may be why smaller text on a larger display? I have this question for Apple. Why not consistent size on a larger display and you still get more on a larger display...

I think Apple did that to make it easier for app developers. The iPhone X/XS/11 Pro is intended as a direct successor to the iPhone 6/7/8. The 5.8" models display content using exactly the same width as the 4.7" devices. It's just a taller device with more vertical space for content.

The iPhone XR/11 is intended as an entry-level phablet. Apple used the exact same display points as the iPhone XS Max/11 Pro Max to avoid creating a third resolution category.

That's my best guess.

Makes sense. Helpful. Thank you.

Yes this seems to be it. I feel a lot more space on the screen with the 11. Almost like it’s a different category which is what you are saying.

Now that the new Phones are announced. Can anyone estimate if the new 12 Pro also get the higher screen space as the iPhone XR and iPhone 11? That would be a reason to upgrade for me. Its really hard to find any infos online, it seems to be a little noticed topic.

Doesn't look like it. The 12/12 Pro this year actually have smaller screen layout than the XR/11 in terms of point sizes. It means the 12 loses the landscape features that Plus, Max and XR/11 phones have had.

11 Pro was at 375x812 pt, so it is kind of inbetween... not sure how they are going to deal with that.
