Hi! I'm really interested in your opinion. I have an iPhone 11, works well but the battery is not that great anymore. I've bought an iPhone 16 Plus for my girlfriend and it feels quite light and quick. I was thinking if it would be a good deal buying the 16 by 550 euros (in the second hand market, reconditioned but in good shape). For what I've read, the 16 is probably better than the 17e in many features. I don't need a premium model. Tell me your thoughts.
Ty!

Really the features of a new phone are a personal metric… your needs aren’t mine and my needs aren’t yours.

Certainly at some point it makes more sense to upgrade; an iPhone 11 will run iOS 26 but it’s the oldest model that will so certainly worth serious consideration if the battery is failing whether to go to the time/expense of replacing the battery vs upgrading to a newer model. That’s the easier part of the equation… is this phone going to continue to be useful for (pick a number - 3 years?) if I replace the battery? Or alternatively, do I simply WANT (and can I afford) a new phone now?

As to a 16 vs 17e vs Pro vs 15 etc etc etc… that’s the hard part, and the very personal part. I upgraded my 12 Pro to a 15 Pro Max (refurbished from Apple) last year, because I wanted the better zoom lens for a vacation. But that’s a decision based on my wants & needs; what are yours?

Thank you.
Regarding the first part, I think it will be better to anticipate. I'll give this phone to my parents, which they'll like as a small upgrade to their faithful SE2. I'll resell their phones (both have a SE2) for extra-cash.

Regarding the last part, I do like the basics. I'm not that much into social media and hardcore using; I just like a reliable phone; good photos but not very pro; fast access to my Cloud services; USCB-C charging is much appreciated. A Pro or a Pro Max would definitely be too much for me (and they are heavy!).

Since you keep your phones a very long time, consider the 17 if affordable. It is a significant upgrade in base storage and screen quality. If not affordable, the 16 is wonderful as well and a nice step forward from the 11.

When u say „reconditioned but in good shape“ there is only apple refurbished store doing this.

All others use this words for making u believe they have done anything similar but don’t. Either they just wipe it clean or put in some cheap 3rd party displays or batteries

Also, only Apple refurbished is eligible for AppleCare+.

You may not need/want that, and that's fine. I do want it, so I only buy refurbs from Apple.

That would be a great idea. Nonetheless, I can't see myself paying much more than 500€ for a phone.

Thank you. Honestly, I've an iPhone 11 from Swappie, bought in 2021. I have nothing against it, all worked perfectly. My fiancé has bought the 16 Plus from Back Market. Until now, very good experiences, the batteries are original. We don't really need a brand new phone. Also, in Portugal we don't have apple refurbished store.

Can’t wait. I am tracking prices, if I can get a deal less than 500€ it would be amazing.
