There is so much wrong with this design. The "reduced" notch doesn't add any more usable screen space, while removing one key discriminator from Android. Same goes for the back, which lacks any kind of unique visual identity. There is still a big protrusion, which doesn't solve the problem of the camera square at all. The whole design language goes back to the ages of SE, so a step back.
The edges are less practical to hold with a full screen, single-handed edge to edge device of that size compared to the rounded X.

There's still physical buttons on the side, which I personally would get rid off if I would design the best iPhone I could come up with, assuming no businesss constraints. All in all not really remarkable, especially not for a Behance project, which should usually showcase the best you could come up with. Very unimaginative and not well thought through. Just a great renderjob, that's all it is.

The flat square sides I think will return in 2020 as on the iPad Pro devices. They can’t make the phones thinner, and the back and sides are now the only thing they can really change visually going forwards.

However if Apple released anything similar to the OP’s designs, I’d buy it in an instant.

Don't think Apple will go back to the edges on the sides, it's like setting a statement that they were mistaken with their design decisions (which I don't think they were in that particular case). In the case of the iPad, they were not going backward, the iPad transitioned into a different design language. At some point they're gonna introduce edge to edge displays and transition into the iPhone X design language, or skip forward to a foldable device -- who knows...

Apples maxime is minimalism. I don't see them going far away from their current design, since they're close to their final destination. Ideally they'd like to have a blob out of glass with nothing else.
And next year I see them continuing pursuing that goal further. They'll try to remove the buttons and replace them with Apple pencil like invisible touch buttons on the side (but with tactile feedback and maybe some tactile & visual indicators where to press/slide).
They'll also try to reduce the notch in whatever way, most likely shrinking it horizontally or getting rid of it completely. At some point they might also want to attack their camera bump at the back, making it completely flat. But I guess as long as they can't produce that perfect blob that would set them apart from the competition, they're not willing to give up some iconic landmarks on the devices. It's the devices silhouette that makes so many people envious after all.

But hey, Im just another person with an opinion... in the end, Apple does whatever they want to do, so everything is possible.

If the camera bump was symmetrical, it would let the phone lie flat without wobbling.

Your other comments are pretty rude, especially on a subjective topic like design. Plenty of people love the SE design and are crying for it to come back.

That’s terrible. Bad in every field: bad ergonomics, impossible to build... and wow, really ugly. You can tell It would feel and look terrible in reality. Now you can understand why apple products are so successful despite the hate, and other companies fail despite the nerds’ hype.

I’m sorry, but I’m kind of sick of “designers” that only care about making stuff pretty. Behance and Dribbble are full of these people, creating wrong expectations. Thats only one stage of the design process that only comes in once the more fundamental stages work out (even though you can develop them in parallel).
Theres actually nothing subjective about design. You interview your audience, gather as much feedback for your solution as possible and chose the compromise that fits your audience and the constraints best. It’s an analytical process relying on solid evidence guiding your intuition. I don’t get the impression this person did this, before showcasing his work as his best.

The design is less wobbly though, which is a plus. I failed to mention that, sorry! It doesn’t address the triangular camera layout though, which might have a good reason to it.
