I was pretty surprised to find out I have 5G at my house. T-Mobile says I don’t have it, according to their map. Guess they haven’t updated yet. I’m satisfied with these speeds. Can’t wait to see what mmWave does.
I’ve gotten 150-200 on 4G LTE (iPhone 8 Plus) near my house. Uploads are slower, but definitely faster than 28.I was pretty surprised to find out I have 5G at my house. Mine says to add a cellular plan, but even on my Verizon account it shows the phone activated. Any ideas? Haha I’m using it now... haven’t tried to take or make a callMine is not showing 5G either it only
shows 4G and LTE.
Is 5G even worth it? I mean, LTE was supposed to be "fast," particularly in well-developed areas like mine and I never EVER get more than about 20 megabits on Verizon, and that's if I'm lucky. Most of the time it's anywhere from slow to useless, even with full bars.
And no, it's not just my old phone. My family all have newer devices and Verizon is just as slow.
On my 12 Pro with 5G set to Auto on the verizon network I'm watching it switch back and forth between LTE and 5G every 5 to 10 seconds.
Probably because you're using two sims. One eSim and a regular one. Currently there is a limitation to LTE instead of 5G in that case. Apple wants to update that later. See separate thread in the forums.I currently have AT&T, and only have the options for LTE and 4G. Any ideas why it won’t show 5G?
For example, when the iPhone is updating in the background, it uses LTE because super fast speeds aren't necessary
Turned off. 5g only available in big cities over here and as lockdown is on I won’t be going near one till prob after iPhone 13
If i force it to 5G only, it will stay locked as 5G. If i set it to 5G Auto, it keeps going back and forth between LTE and 5G.
And for those of us who don’t feel a need for 5G but care about battery life and have been worried about the battery capacity reductions this year vs equivalent models last year I actually discovered something encouraging - https://www.tomsguide.com/uk/news/iphone-12-battery-life-results-are-in-and-theyre-not-great
