Hi all

just wondering if anyone is having issues with the blue leather iPhone 12 Pro case?

I bought my partner it for Christmas and the other day noticed that the blue colour was coming off onto his hand... the colour is literally staining his hand...

contacted Apple and they promptly replaced the case, however, his new case is doing exactly the same.

I have the black leather and have had no issues at all.... so just wondering if this is a known issue with the blue case at all?

thanks

I’ve had the blue leather case about a month now and it’s never once left blue on anything, especially my hands.
It’s weird how it’s happening especially with the replacement doing the exact same, it’s literally staining his hands. Takes a while to wash off... weird, don’t know whether to bother getting another replacement 🤔

Acidic sweat. Alcohol wipes. Sanitizer. Could be causes. Minuscule chance to get 2 lemons in a row

my experience is more of discolouration over time;

- Product Red on iPhone 8 went darker round the edges where it was handled more

- blue iPhone 12 Pro leather case is now going black around the edges, not happy about it (but no blue dye rubbing off onto my skin as per OP)

also remembered I had an official green leather case for iPhone 11 Pro Max which was by far the best of them.

perhaps the squared edges of 12 makes it rub more? - disappointed for the large outlay after a few months of mostly at-home usage vs the price.

I've had my Apple Baltic Blue Leather for a little over two months and I'm not having this issue either, nor the black edge issue. Possibly 2, 3 or more manufacturers with different leather and construction habits.

This is happening on a iPhone XS blue leather case. It’s been in a drawer over a year. Now it’s oozing.

I have tried cleaning it with water, water and hand soap, saddle soap, and acetone. It seems like the only thing that has helped so far is to rub vigorously with cloth until I don’t see it. I’m talking 100 to 200 times. Anyone have any ideas?

I’ve had the same problem with the Midnight Blue leather case for the XS Max.

I had 2 cases (both Midnight Blue) and they both would dye randomly on to my hands. Not as bad as SamJam's photo above, but more subtle, like just a few blue tint patches on my hands, but they were there If I looked for it. It wouldn’t leak all the time, but when it started it felt like there was no going back. I tried using some leather conditioner and it didn’t help. I always make sure my hands are clean and dry before touching my phone, so I don’t think it’s only because of sweat or wet hands, although those could definitely make the situation worse. I ended up just using the saddle brown case, which doesn’t have this problem.
