Does anyone know what the difference in the navigation chips are in the iPhone 12? I was under the impression that iPhones have had GLONASS, Galileo, QZSS, etc for years now, so why is the 11 Pro listed as only having GPS/GNSS?

they didn't talk about it - but those are the EU and Russian/ Chinese GPS systems. hopefully this means better location accuracy

But my question is that haven't these been in iPhone's for years? GLONASS was added with the 4S and wasn't the Galileo, QZSS added with the 8?

I think GNSS is a generic term which includes BeiDou and GLONASS.

We know iPhone 11 already uses BeiDou based on a statement from Apple. It's likely Apple decided to be a bit more specific about the specs for iPhone 12.

Iphone 11 has BeiDou but has performance issues have led Apple to block the BeiDou signal. iPhone 12 will have full GNSS constellation and hopefully L5 signal.

Did you ever get additional specific details on this? I’m curious as well.
I’m interested as well. Did anyone find out what the latest GNSS chips are used? The other reason I’m interested is that according to the paper linked below the Xiaomi Mi 8 has a dual frequency chip (which means it is more accurate in poor GNSS) but as yet I’ve not seen this advertised in iPhones?
