Title says it all. For the first time ever, I received a data limit notification from Verizon. Low and behold, my iPhone has been inexplicably dropping a public wifi connection. Not to mention swapping between LTE and 5G every second in certain areas.

Public Wi-Fi on any device can be hit/miss. If data usage is an issue just turn off data

In a location where neither has happened in several years (5G excepted)? I did indeed turn off data, and iPad (2017) has no issues With wifi in the same location at the same time? Anecdotal, yes....just reporting.

edit: happened again on my iPhone 12 while I was typing this on my 2017 iPad without interruption .

Still switching. In fact I’ve logged in to this particular wifi network 6 times in the last hour and a half. My iPad (on the same network) has not lost the connection.

It may have something to do with the particulars of this public network, but is a behavior I have never seen before.
