There’s been front page article on similar topics on this discussion. The reality is, I think Apple should eliminate the charging brick and wired earbuds. Everyone knows they have plenty of those laying around in excess (Especially if you have multiple Apple products in your home from other users).

if it helps keep the environment impacted by not having more junk thrown away and Apple can save a few dollars passed on to the consumer in some form or fashion, then I’m all for it.

Honestly my 11 pro feels smoother than my higher hz Android phones so I'm not concerned about the pro motion really. It would be nice but for me it's not a deal breaker. A higher price, we all knew that was coming. Every single phone manufacturer bumped up the price when they added 5g so did we really think Apple would be the lone company who went against the trend? Not in a million years.

Did you guys miss the part of it being more expensive and most likely not having ProMotion?

You can’t miss something you didn’t have with ‘Promotion‘. It’s not Like Apple gave us this feature and then took it away. We don’t know if that rumor proves to be accurate or not. Promotion has been rumored for years for the iPhone to have it as a feature and has never happened yet.

True, but what about the first time iPhone buyer? Brand new, iPhone and they have no way to charge it.

It still includes a cable. So they'd just have to have a usb brick laying around. If not, then they buy one at walmart, amazon etc for $5 or less. Stuff is sold and has been sold for eons without batteries (batteries sold separately) so I don't see the big issue.

He was talking about missing a part in the video, not missing the feature Promotion like we had it before. The rumor is that Apple will increase prices by $50 and not pass on the removal of the charger and headphones to the consumer.

5g is an added expense that costs much more than earpods and a charger. What does each set of earpods + charger cost apple? Maybe $0.50?

Don't you think that kinda sucks? I mean, you pay >$1000 for an item, and still need to drop another $20 or so just so you can use it? Honestly, I have a couple of wireless charging stations, plus a plethora of the adapters, and cables, so this doesn't really bother me, what more or less disappoints me is the neglecting of the 120Hz refresh rate. I had a Galaxy S20+, and really got used to that rate. The only reason I stayed with the iPhone 11Pro/Apple watch was that I'm hoping that the AW will come out with an SpO2 sensor/setup this next go-round. If not I'll be really tempted to go back to the S20, that was one fine machine. Just my 2c worth, but I've owned both, so I think I can speak with some degree of opinionated authority.

But they WON'T pass on to consumer.

prove me wrong, though, please! We'll all still win with a lower cost phone 😂

But really though is it a big deal for a first time phone buyer to just buy a $30 charger (or less on amazon or Best Buy)? They're already jumping into a new smartphone experience, so they're prepared for the big purchase already.

Not quite the point. If you need to buy a charger for this phone, how much would it cost you? That's what should technically be subtracted from the cost.

I myself shall wait until we know what the final details are rather than concern myself over more unsubstantiated rumor and supposition.

I feel like I wouldn’t care about this if the charging cables were still USB-A, but since the new cables will likely be USB-C, I find it pretty annoying since Apple just barely made this switch with the last iPhone. I for one have a bunch of extra 5W charging bricks, but only have the one 18W charger that came with my iPhone 11.

When you factor the unit cost of each iPhone in terms of what it cost to have it manufactured, including the marketing, packaging materials, shipping, it probably won’t translate much of a ‘cost savings‘ to the consumer, but I‘m also willing to believe the consumer probably really won’t care one way or the other. Which Supports my argument because the majority of us have multiple charging bricks, cable, third-party accessories in our homes where we don’t need to have useless accessories stockpiling for the sake of compounding waste.

Yup, and no it appears Samsung is following suit on its upcoming flagship phone now as well.

I would find it very odd that Apple would finally include a 18W charger in the Pro models and then get rid of the charger entirely the following year.

I think they will instead remove the charger from the non-Pro models only. Pro models will continue to ship with the 18W charger.

Wow the one main reason one might want to upgrade if you have an 11 might be the 120Hz refresh. I’m waiting anyway so it was a moot point for me.

Honestly, it’s going to be missing a charging brick and wired headphones. I have wired headphones in my house from an iPhone 4/4s. I have pairs from the iPhone 5/5s/5c and the 6/6s/7/8 then I have all the ones from the iPhone X, XR, XS Max, Another iPhone 7 I bought m, iPhone SE 2020, iPhone XS, iPhone 11 ... point being I have no less than 12-14 pairs of them unused lying around the house.

I used to just sale them on Facebook marketplace, but the $10 I get from them isn’t worth the time, but I did just get a good idea.. I could post on marketplace or somewhere ever pair for $100 obo ... lol but that is another point. My whole point is that honestly what they’re taking out of the box won’t be missed.

Seeing this video has made me more excited to upgrade my XS Max. Even without the charging brick and EarPods, I’m still going to upgrade. I’ll just buy a 20W brick at Apple and I already have AirPods.
