So I picked up the iphone 12 Mini at launch last year and I love it, but I've noticed that my battery health is degrading surprisingly fast. Before this I was hanging onto an iphone 6 that I had been using for 6 years and the battery health on that phone is at 98%.

My only thought on why this is happening is fast charging and or wireless charging. All I had ever used on my iphone 6 was the typical 5W charger plugged in. When I got the 12 Mini I decided to upgrade to the new 20W charger and got a wireless magsafe charger as well. However within just a few months I noticed that the battery health was already dropping by 1-2%. By the time it got to 95% I decided to switch back to only using the 5W charger and nothing else. However a few months go by and my battery is now at 92% and it's just coming up to about a year since I got this phone.

I am by no means a heavy user when it comes to my phone, I really don't understand what I could be doing to make it degrade so fast. I typically let it charge to full overnight and that's it, no need to charge in the day just like I treated my iphone 6. Do I just have a bad battery or what's going on?

Curious to read what other 12 mini users have to say. Still rocking my iPhone 6 with over night charging. A 12 or 13 mini is now on my watch list.

When did you get it? I got mine a couple months ago and it's still 100%
I dont know how to find out when I purchased my iPhone.

Edit: I bought it on 12 June 2021 and the battery health is still at 100%. Using my iPad mini 2 charger to charge it and watch YouTube and play BitLife a lot.

I got it at launch last year which was around October because the launch was delayed due to Covid.

Then I can only report back to you in a year.:(
Edit: If you care I never leave it charge overnight. I usually charge it quite randomly and very rarely I've charged it to 100%. I've read that charging it to 100% drains battery more. I usually charge it when I feel like it, but very rarely I've charged it to 100%.

I would say that going from an iphone 6 to a 12 mini, and I'm sure a 13 mini, is a pretty great experience. My only issue is this battery health thing. The battery capacity itself is plenty for me.

I bought mine a year ago (2020's Black Friday's), and after around six months the battery health was showing 94%.

Passed one year, and now the battery health is 86%.

Today I visited an Apple authorized repair, they put my phone into their diagnostics systems, and there's nothing wrong with my phone (as they said...). My usage profile is very low, according to the system's diagnostics.

The girl who attended me even joke with me: "It seems that you use your phone just to see what time is it..." ;-)

I charge my phone everyday from 19:00/20:00 until 22:00/23:00, with the original Apple charger/cable, and nothing more. No overnight charging.

According to my usage profile, I think that it should not degrade so fast.

My old 6s is with my sister in law, with no issues; my old 8 is with my wife, but we change the battery some months ago, after more than 3 years of usage.

I really don't know what's going on.

Just checked my 12 mini that I got black friday 2020 and I’m at 88%. I didn’t think I used the phone that much.

My XR was only 92% after 2+ years but I only needed to charge that every other day or so.
I’‘m fine with getting through most of the day with the smaller battery, just frustrated that it is degrading so quickly. Love the form factor too, but I guess I’ll need to get the regular size from now on. bummer.

My 13 mini just arrived last week. Great phone, in particular the camera upgrade from the 6!
Cannot say too much about battery performance yet but I assume it should be enough for my use case.
Will watch for battery performance in the coming weeks - for the moment I don’t have plans to adapt Magsafe but let’s see.

The most unreliable battery is 12 Mini or whole 12 series i think. My 12 Mini health was like 100% till 100 cycles. now its 86% after 310 cycles. I never used wireless and 18W fast charging. Only 5W or 10W (iPad) chargers. Also, most of the time followed 40 to 80 percentage rule. NO USE

Following up, im at 84% about 2 years into the 12 mini. Obviously, it didn’t degrade as quickly this past year, but still not great.
