For those of you with the mini, what is your battery health at this point?

I’m a light user, only needing to charge every other day and never going below 20% charge- but I am down to 98% health already.
My 1 year old 11 was still at 100% when I sold it, so I am concerned about the health on this one going forward.

Bought mine first day available (27 Nov) here in Thailand, still 100%. I hardly use a fast charger but use my 10 watt wireless charger daily. I have on occasion had it get to below 20% and fast charging to 100%, but not normal for me as I just top it off when around 30-40% on the wireless to about 95%.

Thanks for the responses so far!

I never use a fast or wireless charger, either... mine is a launch day phone...

At what point would one consider a warranty claim due to the battery? How far would it need to drop in my first year to be considered- would it have to drop all the way to 80%?

Relax :)
Day one iPhone 12 mini here. 99% since early February. I use 80-100% of battery daily. Charge it overnight with 5A

Why the heck are you even talking about a battery replacement under warranty? Your phone is still at 98% health! Unclench and relax a little.

Jeez man.

At over 400 posts I am surprised you ask these questions at all. Stop worrying about the phone until you have reached 80%. It’s not worth your lifetime.

My previous iPhones had issues once battery health hit under 95%. And by 90% was awful. My friends XR was the same. Below 90% battery life was useless.

And that can happen anytime of course. It’s an ongoing decline from the day they are made, and the health stuff is an estimate.

I think due to you charging it more frequently as a top-up (that's the typical range 80-100% battery capacity where iOS will begin to slow charge as not to damaging or retard battery life prematurely).

This is how it's meant to be depleted.

Also launch day Mini at 100% health. Batteries come with varying capacities when new, not exactly the same. Coconut Battery reports design capacity at 2214 mAh, however my battery is over that at 2245 mAh currently. I happened to save status on Dec 9th and it was 2250 mAh. So if we go by those numbers, I started at about 101.6% health (capacity). Now Apple will never report health on the phone over 100% and doesn't even publish rated (expected) new capacity to avoid exactly these concerns. But let's say the manufacturing variance is plus/minus 1% of expected capacity. That means there will be a number of phones that always report even new at 99% (assuming Apple uses the widely reported 2214 number).

Really isn't anything to worry about. If capacity drops below 80% during warranty (or AppleCare) period, you will get a new battery for free. If out of warranty, it will be $69 if you use Apple for replacement (third party will be less). That is a pretty small percentage of what your phone is worth so don't worry, be happy!

That said, I'm only charging to 80% daily in an attempt to lengthen battery life. More than enough to get me through the day easily.

My Day 1 12 mini has 100% battery capacity, which is obviously good. I generally charge with a 2.1A charger, which does not put too much pressure on the battery, but occasionally use my Air 4 18 watt charger which is blazing fast.

Quick question to my fellow 12 mini owners, how is ios 14.4 on your battery usage? Any drains or anything?

I haven't experienced any fast draining or other untoward problems.

Reason is just that any other iPhone I’d owned stayed above 97% even after 2 years- so it just concerned me a bit to be down to 98% after only 4 months. Not that 98% is bad, but just thinking about how it could continue dropping quickly.

I’m not stressed over it- I love the phone and will just see how it goes... was just asking the question.

I agree- I’m not terribly worried, was just curious snd will just see how it goes. As you said, worst case, it’s only $69 if I do need to change the battery in the future.

I use a mini since 9 Dec and its battery health shows as 100% in Settings > Battery and 99.9% in CoconutBattery. I charge it overnight with Apple’s 5W wired charger and in the car (a 12W plug) when I drive.

I'm facing the same situation as you.

Had an XS that only dipped to 99% after slightly a year. However, my current 12 mini is already 98% after 3 months :(

Nothing to worry about, keep using your phone as you normally do, replace battery once it hits 80%, most likely won’t happen for a while, probably have a new phone before that happens. 😊

Launch day iPhone 12 mini here. Just dropped to 99% battery health today. 😭

I’ll be surprised if I see a drastic battery health decline. I use my 6th gen iPad when at the house and iPhone 12 when out and about. Only had the 12 since 3 weeks ago, since then I’ve made 6 full charge cycles.

Coconut battery (on Mac) with your device connected is better way to monitor this.

My mini from mid January started out at 104% (of the stated spec). It is now down to 103% after 25 cycles.
